So I love all the progress and positivity here and with the program these past few days, but I saw something that caught me off guard a bit. Jeff Danish posted on his FB that he is not happy with SU recruiting and was now siding with Konrad that we need a new coach and Addazio should be the choice. He said that Addazio did a great job building lasting relationships for recruiting and that he also prepared his players well in particular the O-line (which he says is his closest experience as a D-lineman going against them every practice). He said he chose SU because they were always recruiting good teams and you knew you'd be amongst competitors willing to win.

Late to the game on the Addazio stuff, but this to me signaled a remaining rift between the coaching staff and members of our greatest era of football. The guys that "liked" the comment were a who's who of SU football in the 90's including Coach Rogers, D. Darius, D. Cottrell, Q. Ismail, R. Williams, D. Stroope, K. McIntosh to name a few. Now these guys could just be "liking" the reminiscing aspect of it, but there were several "well said" comments too.

Is there still distance within the program from our past? This could affect legacy recruiting or even networking. Just hope this is being bridged.

Hmmmm seems out of sorts considering the most recent verbal. Recruiting seems to be on an uptick the past year or so. I thought with McD's going Commie on us that we'd take a hit in recruiting but you gotta like this pick-up. Sure Grob had his 4-stars too but they were mostly out of NYS and didn't do much once they got here however this kid is facing real competition and still tearing it up.

First, I know Marrone had issues with being receptive to past players, but does Shafer have the same issue?

Second, why would Addazio leave BC to come to Cuse? It's not like we can double his salary? What's the incentive?

Third, was this before or after the Washington commitment? If after, did anyone chime in about the commit?

I can't think a more ill timed post. We have a coach. One who closed the last recruiting strong and is off to a great start with this one. I like Addazio but that ship has sailed.

Okay, just went to his Facebook page, and granted I'm not that familiar with how Facebook works, but I can't find anything resembling the OP's description. Am I missing it?

Oh, and the guy works at SU? Or am I reading that wrong?

You need to be Facebook friends with him to see his full profile.

Unofficially, Addazio makes 350k more then Shafer in the same conference and region. Why would he move?

I'm not sure he's head and shoulders better than Shafer, either. And as Jekelish said - some of the stories coming from parents of recruits are not exactly glowing.

Oh boy this thread could get interesting.

The Addazzio shipped has sailed though. Was this posted 2 years ago? I'll be the first to admit that I didn't want us to go after Addazzio after seeing how he behaved on the Temple sidelines, but I was wrong. He's a damn good coach, and one hell of a recruiter. That's the past though. Hopefully Danish and Konrad can hop aboard to support whoever the present coach is, and wait to weigh in until the next time we are searching for a coach.

things probably are a bit salty - a 3-9 year with a head coach who didnt show a lot other than foot in mouth with a strange comment to deflect the question

a good year will do a lot

I get the feeling it wasn't posted recently since the above link says the same thing from 2008. Maybe someone commented on it when RW announced and it brought the post back to the top of his timeline.

Quick look at BC's last recruiting class, it was worst than ours based on Skout.

I'm gonna go with it being an old post that was recently commented on.

It was yesterday. I saw it this morning. I saw nothing about the RW commit. I was a bit surprised.
