Long to Ishmael

That's a combo were gonna hear called a lot over the next 3 1/2 years!

Yes!

A lot of times you don't get the opportunity to play guys this young, and maybe I'm overexcited in the moment, but I honestly think this might be the most excited I've been for SU football since McNabb. This is an awesome combination, and everything I didn't like about Hunt, Long does the opposite. I know we're in a honeymoon period, but with Long to Ishmael and all the other receivers and running backs, this is as excited as I've been in a long time. A nice finish to this season with a bowl would lead to a ton of anticipation going into next year.

I've always had my eye on 2015, but I think we need the extra bowl practices this season if we're going to get there next season.

Agreed--getting to a bowl is an obvious payoff, but the extra 15 or so practices are also invaluable.

I have seen multiple posters mention 2015 and I am curious as to why people are excited. I am not disagreeing, just curious as to the thought process. I am nervous about next year with a young defense and a very difficult schedule, again. The defenses might be more physically talented next year but we have 7 senior starters, Eskridge, and two senior backups playing this year. I am not against being excited just looking for some one who is optimistic about 2015 to cheer me up a little.

I love Ishmael... but I wish he had a bit more speed. We need Estime and Broyld back... those 2 plus Ismael is a pretty formidable trio heading into next year.

Our Oline should be fine next year, D Line is next man up, they will be good, worried about LB'ers and seconday if Eskridge leaves. I think (still not sold, but liking what I see so far) Long is good, and obvi we have Rb's for days.

I personally think that Broyld is overrated, and the team will benefit from him being de-emphasized into more of a complimentary role. But I agree 100% about Estime.

Just out of curiosity, why would you be worried about LB? Very excited about the young talent on this team at LB. Lynch is having a great year, Davis has battled injuries. But I don't see much of a dropoff next year at that positional unit.

I'm much more concerned about the secondary than LB in 2015.

Just think that Davis and Lynch are the wheels that make that unit go.

I like Hodge a lot, but after that who has really proven themselves?

I'm not as high on Hodge. Proven? None of them. That doesn't mean that the unit will be weak next year. I think you're going to be surprised about LB.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hodge moved to another position or bumped altogether. Last year's recruiting haul at this position was phenomenal.

The secondary is the big concern in 2015 - not much help from the 2014 class. The LBs are more promising but will be the youngest bunch we have seen there in many seasons.
In the DL we could be OK with size and numbers, though Robinson and Welsh are very under- appreciated and their run stopping will be missed.

The posters who point to 2015 might be those who value offense and the passing game in particular.

I dont think I'm as down on them as you think. Just worried because no one is proven.

We will have proven returners at every other position save secondary
