Looks like we could Doug Marrone as the next Tennessee Titans HC

Wait - are there still posters in this thread who are operating under the assumption that Marrone is not batshit crazy? Yeah, I'm sure a lot of things that have no basis in reality are "obvious to Doug."

Where did you see that I said he was sane?

how you figure?

you guys are the last remaining members of his fan club.

the rest of the free world is just laughing at him and you.

when did they say that??

ill answer it for you...they didnt.

and if you win, you keep said job, thats just the way it works.

it not rocketship science to figure this out.

dont spin it, its unlikely that he will EVER get another NFL HC job.

and now 2 years out...he will have to be more than an OL coach in jax to ever get an interview again.

$1 says next year when the NFL puts out that list to teams of possible HC candidate...that he is not on it.

you again fail to point out that he was getting $4million for 2015 and he was GUARANTEED to get it for 2016 too.

instead, he took the less stressful way for sure to get 4 of the 8 he was GUARANTEED.

good for him. we should all be able to do so.

but we arent NFL HC's...of which he NEVER will be again.

personally, i wouldve toughed it out to make sure i got the 8.

and yes in the NFL fired > quitting.

especially if the reason is 'ownership wanted a new direction and i wasnt a part of it'

im sure hes a nice guy, his coaches must love him. i mean who wouldnt be happy to come off a 9-7 season, think things are on the up...and then have your boss quit and find yourself on the unemployment line. thats HC material right there.

hes one crazy-ass buffoon quitter thats for sure.
he'll get a shot as an interim the way Mularkey has, he'll work somewhere where the head coach gets fired.. he'll need to do a lot better than mularkey to be anything other than interim. what's funny is not having a contract extension is way more security than being a mid season interim, which he will jump at

I'd bet it was obvious to Doug. Things get communicated a thousand ways when you're in the job/building. If they say no to an extension and then your hear rumblings?

So, if I might steal a line from the Marrone promise keepers, you think the first "winning" season the Bills had in years was prompting new owners (who, from everything I've heard appear level headed and did keep the GM) to rumble around the building that they wanted their own head coach in place?

I'd bet if Doug heard those whispers, then he's got bigger problems than where is his next HC gig.

I, like most reasonable humans, believe it was a cash grab because he thought his stock was at its highest. They'd be knocking over doors to hire him as HC. He took a risk and it failed, and now he's probably looking at his 2nd straight year as an OL coach. If you think he doesn't regret it, then I don't know what to tell you.

I will alter that a bit:
"Quitting + 4mill + Current Asst. Job/Salary + still getting interviews > Fired"
hope that OL job was/is for 2mill & pop so he would at least be =

8 > 4

being a HC > not being a HC

there is no reasonable scenario for him where quitting > getting fired

wow, marrone has all his followers literally drinking the kool aid.

and cusian, ive yet to be bombastic...about lil ole quitter doogie.

could care less about him, im trying to help you guys by pointing out the facts before the kool aid offically kills all of you.

Agree with this perspective 100%. That's the only explanation that makes sense, frankly. I won't pretend to understand his motivations, but he exploited the loophole probably believing that he was going to quickly land with the Jets. So why not take $4M with him on the way out the door?

Problem was, he didn't interview well with the Jets [allegedly], and ultimately ended up trading down from HC to OL coach. Seems like a poor miscalculation / overestimation of his stock on Marrone's part--that couldn't have been the outcome he envisioned, no matter how dissatisfied he was in Barfalo.

If you combine rumors of the new ownership not being sold on you as a HC and they don't extend you after the first winning season in a long time? Yeah.

I'm not arguing he doesn't regret it. I don't know if he does or doesn't. I'm saying he deemed the risk of being fired worse than walking away with 4M and getting another job - at the time. People here have said it was a cancerous move and that he'll never be hired again - and that remains to be seen.

It wasn't a great career move and it wasn't the worst career move either. It's gray. Meh.

Good grief. Did you miss the 4 month argument I had with Go over Dougie?!? I'm not a kook aid drinker. He's a mediocre HC in CFB and NFL. He made a mediocre career move.

I don't think quitting or getting fired is what a HC dreams of when he takes his dream job. He made a slightly risky move and ended up in a slightly worse position.

Who cares?!?

Eli was crying crocodile tears at TC's press conference. He wants big stats for his hall of fame inaugeration. He made so many mistakes at crucial points last season , really sad to see him stab Tom in the back.

Because if you are, oh please. If there's anyone more genuine than Eli, I'd like to meet him.

Oh, and just so I'm straight on this point, any mistake a QB makes is stabbing his coach in the back? I guess Brett Favre really hated his coaches.

i dont care about doogie, but i care about you.

just about everybody in the NFL eventually gets fired.

you just wont admit it.

fired > quitting

just admit that...and we can go back to educating you on all the other topics of interest this offseason that we come across and all will be good.

Do you think Eli had enough chips on the table to continue to stake TC ? Eli voted Tom down , OK , that's why Tom said " When we win we all win and when we lose , I get the blame". And those backstabbers will NEVER win another Superbowl.

It's just not that black and white. We can agree to disagree.

Lol. You don't follow the Giants and don't know what you're talking about. TC and Eli were almost like father/son.

Then it was patercide, even more nefarious. Eli had no input? They won 2 Superbowls together , and he doesn't have the standing to say TC stays. I stand by what I said.

cross another potential landing spot off for DM, the Bengals promoted Ken Zampese as their OC

You keep telling yourself that. Maybe it will come up in your next interview and you can explain, "I got fired and that is better than if I quit!"
if im ever an NFL HC, i will.

good lord, are we really comparing us working stiffs to NFL HC's??

no wonder this shouldve been over by now debate wont end, you guys think we are talking about protecting your U4!

most ridiculous thing i have ever seen posted.

until this.

Gordon Gecko doesnt exist.

at least not anymore.

Your boy really did his homework, Fox. And you'll have the shortest executive career since that Pope that got poisoned.

It's hard to have the craziest take in a Doug Marrone thread. Congrats!

I try to put my thinking cap on for these things. The backstabbing Giants will NEVER win another Superbowl , EVER . Eli wants to pad his stats for the Hall of Fame. He reminded me of John Beohner crying like Judas.
