LSU Game Time: Noon

Folks, you can't complain about time slot when you're on ESPN/ABC. There are far more attractive games nationally than LSU/SU. Also, ESPN/ABC at noon is a sign of greater respect than 3:30 on ESPN2. The goal is to be on the big boy channel first.

YEAH BUT WE'RE 2-0 AND HAVE YOU SEEN OUR QB? #HEISMAN

In all seriousness... people thought we would be on at 8?!?!?!?!?!?!?

LOL.

First, this sucks.

Second, this is an underrated factor in our attendance decline - not just the apparent majority of noon starts, but the fact that so many of these games don't get scheduled until 12 days out.

When my high school friends and I were going to games 15-20 years ago, it never seemed that we'd miss too many SU games for our soccer and cross country obligations on Saturdays. The next generation of fans is probably getting boned by conflicts every weekend.

Also, this sucks.

Yes, apparently we can. This means I won't be able to see Wolf Shafer lead the Bombers to a Homecoming victory.

Eh, MetLife.

Honest question: why does venue matter?

I'd say opponent is #1 determining factor, followed by the combined record of the two teams?

No clue. I'm just basically guessing. But, part of me feels that played a role.

UGHHH I was praying for a 3:30 start... I will be driving from Vermont Saturday morning, guess we're hitting the road really early.

When my son was at SU (09-13) there was a limited student section for the parents' weekend game since students were given assigned seats with their parents (if the parents elected to purchased tickets for the game) The only student section was for the students who's parents did not purchase tickets. Will that be the same for the LSU game?

For selfish reasons this is perfect for me. I know ill take heat for it, but if this game was anytime other than noon i wouldnt be able to go because my freakin cousin is getting married in Rochester at 5pm. This would be the 2nd big game someone in my family almost ruined because of a wedding. I had a ticket @ FSU and had to cancel because of another wedding in rochester. Needless to say i hate Rochester now.
Hey Rochester isn't that bad!!!!! Glad you will be able to make it.

It's parents weekend too. Wife won't be able to go because she has to work there till 2. There's also events that some parents won't be able to attend.

Is there a traditional student section during Parent's Weekend nowadays or is it disbanded for this weekend?

The best part of this game was the pregame tailgate.

Provided everyone to build hope when there's not a lot there.

Oh well.

Guys what DID you expect????? if it was going to be on national tv, it wasn't going to be at 8pm. That's bananaland. I was holding out slim hope it would be 3:30pm.

We gotta go out and earn those time slots. Hopefully they can make some magic.

When I was there in the mid 2000's there was no student section, you sat with your parents. Usually parents weekend is a really quiet crowd...

Yeah, that is my worry. From what I remember, our situation was the same as yours (my frosh year was '98).

God I hope that's not the case still. One of the dumbest things that SU did (does?). Next closest is having no student section at all anytime students are on break, which mainly affects basketball.

If I remember correctly, not only was it like that on Parent's Weekend, but my freshman year, McNabb's last game against Miami (where we knocked the ever living crap out of them) didn't have a student section either because it was during Thanksgiving Break, which is more understandable, but still stunk considering the moment.

There's no point in complaining about something we have no control over. We are playing LSU at home on national network TV. That is good.

Noon ABC is good enough for Michigan/OSU

I think those thinking the start time will affect attendance are off base. Opponent and a 3-0 SU team should drive attendance much more. I'm still pumped that we get a national TV home game against a top 15 SEC team

I mean if we got 25k for URI and WF, we still should be able to get 40k for LSU even if it's at Noon. It definitely sucks this isn't a prime time game just because the atmosphere would probably be a little more jacked and it's pretty cool to be ABC Primetime, but I don't think it will make a major difference in attendance.

8am for me, and the bar wont be open. If it's on ABC, will it still be on watchespn? (might be a dumb question, but thought maybe since they are owned by the same company)
