Apparently we are going to continue to focus on establishing the run to set up the play-action pass rather than using the pass to spread the field and open up the lanes to run in.
So you think that is something ultimately fire-able?:bat:

So do you think that is a fire-able offense?understandable...its that outdated coach speak ego filled thinking precisely that is mostly responsible for this 3 game skid...sure that wasnt george halas or paul brown on the radio?

You said that Marrone's ego-filled thinking, which by this time seems to be established as in-stone (I believe), is mostly responsible for our 3-game skid. Why would you want to keep that coach? In all this complaining, given what we know about Marrone, I hear the subtext of "he's not the guy."why would that be fir-able?

My mind doesn't even go there. I am firmly on the Doug bandwagon with my seatbelt tightly fastened. I do think we need to mix it up a lot more in the first quarter. My guess is that they saw what Rutgers did with the run last week and find no reason not to try to do the same.

My mistake - I forgot the word "eventually" as I included in a previous post in this thread, as in "you want him fired eventually." It sounds like you are saying that, since he is not the savior. So how long do you want to let him hang around? Wait until the ACC money becomes reality and we can afford $2.5 mil for a HC, and then send him packing? I am genuinely curious - not a flame or taunt.dont want him fired, but he is not the savior either...

i like doug...i really do. class guy, all about cuse, alumnus, pro experience but i have to say his business approach and demeaner may not translate to 18-22 yo kids. i hope i am dead wrong but he has been outschemed in the rutgers, ville, uconn, and usf games and the team was not ready to play coming out of the tunnel. i LOVE our staff. yes, some of this is on shafer(uconn) ...this league was there for the taking this year...he is a nice coach, gonna always represent and have us at .500, but i dont see that moxy and killer instinct that a holgerson, rich rod, saban, meyer, kelly, and kiffen have. yes, i know what your going to say...doug's kids have discipline problems too...on and off the field...
Wow -- there is a new angle (wishful, but new). I sure hope Doug tries to mix it up a bit, but he has limited weapons in the arsenal. He runs because he believes in getting this team into a 2nd and 6 situation, 3rd and 3; and not into 2nd and 12. The OL won't hold up, he doesn't have deep threats, so getting into 2nd and 12s is a losing approach. He said that in the interview, sincerely, and he has shown that in his gameday tactics, again and again. He also said he is working to narrow the playbook to the plays that Nassib & colleagues have confidence in. Could all be a charade to fool Cincy, if you think Doug is a crafty sort of guy.I think HCDM is just baiting Cincy into thinking that our gameplan is to just run the ball.
I believe that this is the game the coaching staff has been saving "their" offense for, the offense we've been waiting for going on 3 years now. We didn't want Cincy to be able to gameplan for it so now we will spring it on them.
I agree in general, but in the present case I see lines of argument that resemble personnel files compiled to justify firing with cause. The contention here is that Marrone is out of touch with the college game, and worse, he stubbornly insists on an offensive system that puts us at a disadvantage right out of the tunnel. And then he insists on setting the gameplan to try something that likely will not work, over and over, despite evidence! That goes beyond irritation with a coach's quirks. That argument says, "Our coach is putting us in a position to lose." And he is doing it repeatedly, by design.I don't understand why, if you criticize a coach, there's a preseumption that you want him fired.
