mlb floating "arizona plan"

Ok, compromise at 65 and let’s roll. This is ridiculous. 10 games is a deal breaker for both sides? Get outta here.
The players want a little more money for putting their health on the line.
The owners want to extract every ounce of flesh they can from the players.

It’s amazing how the owners won’t just eat the small amount of money to play those extra 10 games and realize they can sell ads on the players jerseys and helmets for the next 2 years to help revenues.

The owners just want to break the MLB union.

yup. when baseball was a cheap sport to attend and it was popular with the masses.. much better now that no one watches any more and players complaining about 5-10 million a yr.

we are at the same tipping point with college sports.
If no one watches, how did they just get such a lucrative tv deal?

Baseball is just pathetic. How the owners can claim they are furious at the players rejecting their deal is just laughable.
The season is still going to be 60 games why should the players give them an expanded playoff field without any real incentive AND a sign a waiver for their ridiculousness.
It’s funny how the baseball media takes their cues from MLB and doesn’t think an arbitration will be successful when MLB is worried about it a lot.

Mookie Betts is the biggest loser in this case. No team is going to give him insane money this offseason. I feel bad for Mookie. I hope a lot of players sit out this season for “medical” reasons it’s pointless to play now and I hope the players sue the crap out of the owners for negotiating in bad faith that they were.

More adjusted rules:
*To be eligible for postseason, players must be added to big-league roster by 9/15
*Season will start with 30-man rosters. Down to 28 after 2 weeks, 26 after 4 weeks.
*Pitchers/catchers report to camp first, then position players.
*Teams can invite all 60 players to big-league spring training or can send up to 20 players (not on 40-man roster) to alternate site.
*Not all players on 40-man roster must be invited to big-league spring training (but if not must still be paid).
*Transactions freeze ends this Friday at noon ET
*Teams must submit 60-man player pool names by Sunday at 3 ET
*In-person scouting will be allowed.
*Teams can take up to 3 taxi squad players on road (but if 3, one must be a catcher)

Here's a wrinkle I hadn't heard before: MLB has been talking with Nashville about having 2 teams there of unsigned players, sources say. They would serve as an emergency pool and would make $400/week. MLB teams would have to pay a fee to Nashville to sign one of those players.

One more wrinkle that isn't finalized: MLB still debating whether to let teams sign players to minor-league contracts Those players wouldn't count against 40-man big-league rosters but would count against 60-player pools This would cause massive opt-outs 5 days before openers!

What's the point of a trade deadline with a 60 game schedule and expanded playoffs who is goung to be selling?

Universal DH for the 2020 season and extra inning games will start with a runner on second base.

This season is not legitimate whoever wins it gets a *.

Yep it will be something to watch which is good, but definite * season for sure. Same with the NBA although not to the extend of MLB.
