Moyer Redshirt?

If we're serious about pressing, he becomes more valuable.

There are 200 minutes per game, unless we're pressing the whole entire time and even then we have enough guys that can play multiple positions to divvy up the minutes even without Moyer.

9 legit guys / 200 minutes is 22 per player doing it the lazy math.

We don't need 10 guys to press a lot, 9 is more than plenty.

I do not believe he can redshirt this season unless he gets hurt again. If you play in an exhibition, that's basically like playing in a game. At least that's my understanding.

I was wondering about that as well.

I hope he takes a RS. IDK how much he will play this season.

Redshirt Rules
  • For an athlete to receive a standard redshirt, the NCAA requires that player not be involved in any competition for the year he is redshirted. Any amount of competition time, even 1 minute on a basketball court during a regular season game, for example, counts as a season of eligibility.

Redshirted athletes are allowed to travel, practice and even dress for competition for their team during their redshirt season, but the minute they step on the playing field, they lose their redshirt status and use a season of eligibility.

I want our best cheerleader on the bench. He will be a team motivator.
And if worse comes to worse and someone gets injured, we can burn his redshirt and play him.

He would be rusty but as long as he's allowed to practice with the team, not THAT rusty.

One can redshirt for medical reasons then practice when healthy, right?

Good question.

Good question.

99.9% sure the answer is yes.

You can redshirt for non-medical reasons (see: Cooney, Trevor, et al) and practice.
Or for medical reasons (see: Scoop or Devo or Rautins) and practice.

You just can't appear in ANY non-exhibition games if you're using a normal redshirt.
Or more than a certain % of games, if it's a medical redshirt.

Thank you!

I think he should. Does anyone think Moyer is 1-and-done? I don't. He would be better off keeping the extra year of eligibility because I really doubt he's going to get much PT with AW3 and Lydon playing the 3 spot. We just have too many forwards.

I doubt AW3 plays any 2 this year.

Incorrect exhibitions are considered practices. If he plays against Colgate then he could not take a regular red shirt this year.

Thanks all for clearing this up. I hope MM doesn't see the floor this year, especially since we seem to be needing bodies the next few years.
