NBA 2018-2019

The NBA is just on another level when it comes to entertainment. Every other league pales in comparison

I was cracking up laughing just reading about Butler at practice, and the interviews took it to another level. They called Rachel Nichols yesterday because he was ready to talk, he went to practice and won scrimmages with the scrubs on his team while screaming on the GM, coach, and other two “stars” and now is talking about how his passion for winning or something got the best of him. Seriously dying laughing. Awesome.

I didn’t even know Austin was on the Wiz.

They’ve got 42-48 wins written all over them like usual. Which is all well and good, but...cmon.

Jimmy Butler isn’t even a top 10 player in the league.
The drama surrounding this guy is insane.
His strength used to be his defense but as his offensive game developed his D has gone down.
I would trade him if I were Minnesota as he isn’t resinning. Find a package and just move him.

I’d put him borderline top 10. But yeah, maybe 11-15 is more accurate. But yeah, this story is comedy at this point. If Dion ends up in Minnesota as a result of this, I will not be laughing though...

I think top 15 is generous.
I would take
LeBron
Durant
Steph
Anthony Davis
Kawhi
Giannis
Westbrook
Harden
Kyrie
Wall
Paul

All before Butler.
Then you got guys like KAT, Draymond, Klay, George, Gobert who I see Butler grouped with.

I don’t think Butler is a franchise guy.
I see him as an all star. The Celtics could have traded for him but fans didn’t want to pay the price of a top 3 draft pick and Crowder.

In a vacuum, I think he’s a better overall player than Kyrie, Draymond, Klay, George, and Gobert.

Certain teams, depending on needs, might take any of those guys over him though.

Eh, not sure I really buy it on Towns. Guy has averaged 21 and 12. Yes he needs to improve on D and keep developing, but frankly...where was Jimmy when was 21? Marquette? He wasn’t putting 21 and 12 up. He hasn’t exactly won anything either. Very good player though.

Maybe Jimmy aspires to win a championship and Towns doesnt care

He embarrassed KAT in practice apparently. In the post as well.

This LA/GSW game is pretty fun. Watching Bron run at this pace is insane.

Great game for a preseason game.

This is going to be the most entertaining season in over a decade

I'd probably put Butler at 11 personally. I don't think Wall is really in that discussion right now; Butler is significantly better on defense and is a better scorer too. Wall has the edge as a passer obviously but he's significantly behind in the other two categories.

Butler is 29. Wall is a year younger.
Kyrie is 3 years younger.
Jimmy Butler had the Bulls as the 8 seed 2 years ago in the East.
He isn’t even Carmelo good IMO.
He can be a good second guy but top 10 guy’s IMO first options.

I didn't say I'd rank Butler ahead of Kyrie, though I do think it's a legitimate discussion.

We also talking about the top 10 guys long-term though, so the age really isn't a factor in these rankings at all. Health, on the other hand, is, and it's definitely a knock against Butler. But it's also a knock against Wall and Kyrie.

You don't have to be the #1 scoring option to be the #1 player on your team, but if we're going based off of that, Butler is a far better #1 option than John Wall at this point. Wall simply is not a good scorer right now (though this is really just a result of his shot distribution; he's a good finisher and shows signs of being a capable 3 point shooter, but he takes wayyyy too many mid-range jumpers and he's flat out terrible at them). Butler is a better finisher and light-years better mid-range shooter and his 3 point shot is roughly on par with Wall. He also draws fouls at a significantly higher rate. Butler is legitimately in the 10-15ish range if we're purely talking about scoring ability and he couples that with being a very good and versatile defender as well.

Lebron
Kd
AD
Curry
Kawhi
Harden
Kyrie
Westbrook
Lillard
Thompson
Butler

Imo

I probably missed a huge one or two

Prime Carmelo was better than all these guys named above.

2 years ago, I think Wall was better than both Butler and Kyrie. Last year when healthy, Wall was the worst of the 3.

Kyrie, Lillard, and Klay are not better than Butler IMO.

Jimmy just does more things well than those guys do.

Yeah, I think Butler is really really good. Maybe not a super elite #1 scoring option, but one of the best 2 way players in the league. Would rather have him than the 3 guy mention.
