NBA Thread 2020-21 Season

First, I can't imagine being able to do it, but yeah, I believe it would have to be sign and trade with Boston.

At this point I'm just throwing stuff against the wall. I do think Gordon may come to the Knicks and Russ is the most inefficient player ever... but we have been bad for so long... I would enjoy this team. At least Russ would play his a$$ off.

I think the easier way might be to sign Hayward and trade for Russ?

But I'm not sure if they have the salary now to to send back

Stern. Could throw jabs with the best of them.
I had brief words wit the commissioner in Aspen over Christmas break in '92 if my memory serves me right. My friend pointed him out to me, so I said something like " Hey, David Stern! Kevin McHale doesn't like you very much." (McHale had been voicing his displeasure over having to play on Christmas)
Stern says "A lot of people dont like me very much".
His wife and friends laughed and kept walking.

You didnt think he made a good point when he said "the western conference is one of the toughest conferences to play in"??

Well... Big east, big then, AcC, sec, pac 12.. big 12 all worse

Here's where I am with the Knicks - I'll be happy if they mortgage everything just to get Russ. Legit. We'll be like a 7 or 8 seed. Russ will take 50 shots a game. But to have someone average 30/10/10 at this point at least will be entertaining.

Otherwise, tank so hard that you may get Emoni Bates in two years. Because until Dolan sells the team, we aren't getting a true superstar to come to the Knicks.

As a rockets fan.. I'll personally drive russ to the airport... You want to pick him up at Newark or laguardia?

I give Golden State credit for giving him the 5 year max last offseason after he tore his ACL.
They did right by him but he will be a 38 million dollar role player for the rest of his career you gotta think.
Achilles injuries are the worst a player an NBA player can have because they take explosiveness away.
He wasn’t an explosive type of player but this injury will take 18 months before he is full strength. He will be back playing for before that but will need a long time to become full strength.
Durant will be a good case to see how comes back after all the miles on his knees.

It's the D you have to worry about.. He'll be fine on the offensive side

Honestly. I want to go with the young guys. We should trade Randle we could get a decent package back.

C- Mitchell Robinson
PF- Toppin
SF- Knox
SG- RJ
G- Dennis Smith/Frank/Quickley

And then we tank the season. Get the highest draft pick in a better draft next year(Plus we have our first of 2 dallas first round picks next season)

You ain't getting squat for JR

So now the Clay is out... And their window is closing... Harden to the GSU for Wiseman and contracts?

Curry doesn't need to dominate the ball to score 40... And wiseman is a project who likely wont be a major contributor championship wise till Curry is on the down slope

To make the money work I think you'd need to send Wiggins back to Houston, which probably defeats the purpose for Houston

I think it’s more likely the fit wouldn’t be good because their is rumored friction between Harden and the Warriors from their playoff battles plus their luxury tax bill would become even more insane.
Wiseman and Wiggins plus fillers is a better package than Brooklyn.

The 76ers package led with Ben Simmons is probably a better one though.

I don't think the 76ers are giving up embid or Simmons for harden...

If the rockets think they require ADDITIONAL number 1 picks from GSW for a wiseman / wiggans deal... They are greatly over valuing Harden..

. I'd be surprised if they get anything back for him beyond a good but not great younger player... And a couple lottery protected 1st

I really don't think it is. I think Wiggins on that contract is a complete disaster.

I'm sorry what? it says you responded but i dont see any words here no sir nothing at all NO NO NO

I wonder what Klay looks like in a different role on a different team. My hunch is he was the perfect player for his role but i dunno for sure. (Draymond is very similar; I'm beginning to think that Warriors team was pretty special...)
I started to specifically watch Warrior games after Mark Jackson said they were the greatest shooting backcourt in history.
When Kerr took over it was a perfect blend of system, stars and team players.
For me, they play basketball how it should be played. First open guy shoots, but if a guy is hot, give him the ball. Totally unselfish play ( although Durant could be a little selfish, but a well guarded shot by Durant is almost always a better shot than someone else).
Plus, the all seemed likable (Green maybe not).
LBJ has a lot of people who don't like him. He lacks humility. I think many are turned off by Kyrie. I personally can't bear watching Harden play- he destroys team basketball.
I think the demise of the GSW will really hurt the NBA in the long run.

Durant is likeable? Dude is the most surly guy in the league and spends way too much time on burner accounts fighting people

That's irrelevant while watching games. Folks not on twitter or message boards don't even know what the phrase "burner accounts" even means.

The majority of NBA fans are in fact active on both .. MLB is where you go to find the fans who aren’t

Is Tres Tinkle a distant relative of Dick Trickle?

What about Dick Pound?

Majority is not going to be close to accurate there. Extremely small percentage like maybe 1% of NBA fans would be active on message boards. Twitter obviously is a strong NBA spot.

So FA officially opens today, right?

Think it'll be quieter, or will a lot go down day one?

I think there will be a bunch of deals announced day one and it will be rapid fire with Woj and Shams.

Part of me wonders if all the deals leaking on Twitter and the media last summer before “official” free agency period opened and now with the report of the NBA apparently investigating the Bogdanovic deal that the word to teams/reporters was to keep things quiet until the actual period started for optics.

Only where Harden or Westbrook get traded too if they do.

Fred Van Vleet and Gordon Hayward are top FAs.

Only Atlanta and New York have the cap space to sign 25+ million a year FA.

AD will do the 1+1 with the Lakers and they will likely MLE KCP with that.
