Bama from 2011 IIRC:I understand the part about having a sugar daddy like Phil Knight. However, almost every program out there has rolled out alternate unis, including ND, Ohio State, Florida, Florida St, Michigan, Stanford, UGA, VA Tech just to name a few. Only two that haven't off the top of my head are PSU and Bama.
I don't mind alternates or major changes but the Jaguar fade is horribleOhio State, USC, Michigan, Florida State, Clemson, Michigan State, Nebraska, West Virginia and Notre Dame all have alternate uniforms. I guess these programs all suck.

We have had numerous threads complaining about our lack of gameday traditions. We also have a number of threads about uniforms with a boatload of people consternating about a possible move away from our traditional uniform. I don't know where this perception of our "traditional" uniforms came from. We have had a generally consistent look to our uniforms over the past 30 years, but if you look at photos from year to year, you can see that there have been a lot of changes to those uniforms - sometimes subtle (piping, helmets, stripes, etc) and sometimes more obvious (the drab all-orange GRob unis). So, this "traditional" uniform is really a perceived traditional uniform.
Is that even legal with the black numbers? How are the officials supposed to call penalties?Bama's wearing these this season
most good programs don't resort to stupid like this
everyone looks at oregon.
sh!tty nike uniforms and a trillion dollars from nike = recruits
sh!tty nike uniforms and no money from nike = nothing
but everyone still wants the sh!tty uniforms
And everybody at ND hated it.
yeah your right. they also got to the national chip game. I think their fans will prefer that rather than keep the traditional uni's and go 7-5. Would you care about the uni's if cuse were winning, going to major bowl games and getting better recruits with them? And everybody at ND hated it.
I have a feeling these will not be a hit here

When our current set came out, I remember reading someone pining for exact replicas of the McNabb teams including minute details like a number patch on the pants stripe.
This ought to put that in perspective.
I'm also waiting for the first recruit to specifically say he is coming here for the uniforms. When helmets and uniforms make players play better I will care. Until then, who cares.
I'm not convinced that Notre Dame got any "better" recruits because they wore an alternate uniform for one game.
If alt uniforms were the deciding factor ... wouldn't Oregon and Maryland play for a National Championship every year?
I wish I could like this post 100 times. Why be soooo resistant to change? What is so wrong with being progressive? It is not as though were are talking about an iconic fomer uniform like Penn State or the Wolverine helmet. I loved the Blue look, it looked clean (and mean). Who cares if any portion of the uniform resembles other programs'? When we rise to the top, their crybabies wil be saying their uniforms are copying ours. As long as we don't go the Maryland route (those ARE god-awful), playing with our classic colors in varied combinations is at least somewhat buzz-worthy. And, we might come up with something the REALLY resonates with the recruits. I can still remember the Cornhusker and Hurricane half shirt jerseys in the 80s (when I was in high school), and kids today put even more emphasis on the look of schools they choose...The "get off my lawn" crowd is here in full effect. Get over the traditional approach, Syracuse football tradition is not currently carrying our program, and our recruits know little to nothing about Syracuse tradition. They do know, and like, fresh uniforms though. Traditional uniforms don't get us wins, players that want different uniforms do.
Syracuse has worn orange helmets, orange pants, and either blue or white jerseys since the days of Jim Brown.
Frank Maloney flirted with white helmets and pants and orange jerseys in the 70's.
GRob flirted with disaster.
When you wear the same color scheme for 50 out of 60 years, it becomes your "traditional" scheme.
