New PS interview with Danielle Roach

Davis called the University and made his allegations.

BTW, I am absolutely confident that BSK conducted their investigation with a fine toothed comb and turned up nothing to corroborate Davis' story. They also would have found all the reasons that Davis would have to want to harm or get misguided "revenge" on Bernie.
Yeah, you wonder if there is something in there that is bad for Davis...hopefully there is. Firm probably got paid hundreds of thousands to work that...usually pretty thorough (higher billables!)

So what is most likely here: That they made up the story about contacting the police and DA? And their only contacts were with the PS, ESPN, then 2 years later with SU? It is either that, or egregious negligence on the part of the cops and DA in responding to their calls...

Sooo, you're basically saying it sounds like total BS? :)

I am very confident that nothing will come of this - other than forever tainting Bernie's good name (and I don't want to minimize that).

I don't want to keep repeating it in thread after thread, but the summary of my analysis is here

You guys are all screwing up the timeline of this story.

Early 2002: Roach Calls Investigator Fox and says Bernie Fine molested my friend Bobby Davis.
Later in 2002: Davis himself calls Fox. Fox asks him when it occured and says he can't do anything about it now. Later in the phone call, Davis asks Fox if he knows who he's talking about, and Fox says "i'm pretty sure".

My interpretation is that Fox remembers the call from Roach and assumes Davis is talking about the same person.

It's poorly conveyed the way the story was written, but that is my take.

The more comes out, the more it looks like the university are the only ones who remotely did the appropriate thing here. The fact that their investigation came to the same exact conclusion that independent investigations by two different media organizations came to is also bolstering. Reading the PS account of their investigation, it appeared to have been very thorough.

I know this is pointing out the obvious, but think about a little more deeply. I believe this is EXACTLY what the University is playing for regardless of the outcome.

What is the accepted protocol for the authorities to deal with claims against celebrities? I mean the LA district attorney's office must get 100 calls a day from kooks claiming celebrity x, y, or z did something to them. There is no possible way they could investigate every one. I realize Syracuse has only a few celebrities so this probably isn't a big issue for SPD or the Onon. Co. DA's office, but there must be an 'industry accepted' practice for dealing with such things. Right?

Right. She called SPD, then Davis followed. After Davis she then called the DA. Allegedly

Moqui, somehow missed the post you linked. But I could totally see that and have been thinking along the same lines. Glad I'm not the only one.

I was just about to point that out. Looks like Roche called first. Roche gave Fox Bobby's name and Bernie's name, then Bobby calls same detective. He's heard the story before.

I was once told by a cop's girlfriend that it was some other cop's full time job to keep DC out of jail. I wonder how many other cops were assigned to other SU figures.

He seems to be saying his only hint was that it was a University employee. And, yes, he then implies that the detective knew it was Fine.

And the police department just recently interviewed Davis and Roach TOGETHER??? What sort of a Mickey Mouse operation interviews two key witnesses together? Don't you want to know what each will say separately?

Although she may have inadvertently (a) sunk the DA's office, or (b) Davis's case with the admission.
Right - seems like now either the DA's office corroborates her story that she phoned and they didn't return her calls, thereby ruining the SPD and SU coverup story, OR they claim she's lying about having called the DA, which might suggest she's got some, um, credibility issues. Bizarre.

obviously you didn't read the whole article

Maybe someone can help me with the second paragraph, perhaps I just don't understand English very well, but it seems to be very poorly worded. John O'Brien and Emily Kulkus should read the articles before publishing them, or at least the editor should catch it. Jeez.

Davis said he never identified Fine as the abuser in his conversation with Fox, and that Fox never asked for a name. Davis said he didn’t even mention Syracuse University basketball. He said he didn’t recall Fox ever saying Fine’s name, either.
“I said, ‘Do you know anything about this?’ (Fox) goes, ‘Go on, I have a pretty good idea who you are talking about,’” Davis said. “I said, ‘Do you know who I’m talking about?’ He said, ‘I kind of have a good idea,’” Davis said.

I find the most notable revelation of that article to be that the police are interviewing both Davis and Roach together.

Other than witnessing looks, she has nothing to add to the investigation. Certainly nothing to add that the would need to interview the two of them together.

The only legitimate reason I can think of for interviewing the two together is if the police were trying to gather information from the way the two of them interact in an interview setting. Suggests to me that the police are trying to sniff out a scam.

If by that you mean that the article shows that they are a Mickey Mouse organization, then point taken.

If you mean I missed something and they weren't interviewed together in the last day or so, I think the article says otherwise.

they were interviewed individually first

This is according to Davis' recollection of events.

We don't have SPD's version of the interview, because they won't turn over the records to the DA until their investigation is complete.

Could be Davis has misrepresented his conversation with Fox.

"Roach, of Camillus, was the person who first encouraged Davis to go to police in 2002. Syracuse police interviewed Roach twice Thursday -- once by herself and later with Davis, she said in an interview Tuesday."

...seems like University did the right thing...destroyed the investigative material three years after it was completed...or they should have since they are the only ones with any knowledge..tongue in cheek!

I wonder, could she be his crisis counselor by any chance? Said she used to work at a place that did that sort of work.
