They mentioned during the telcast that because of the APR SU will not be eligible for the tourney next year? Is this a certainty? Anyone know more?

As of now, we don't qualify for the '14 tourney. Probably unlikely given Fab situation and Dion leaving.

Did they say JB said we can't hold student athlete's accountable? Is JB going senile?

I don't know the context of what Boeheim said or a questioned he may have answered but if did intend to say that then it may be time for him to leave or just stop talking to the press.

If a kid isn't coming back, how can u make him go to class.

Frankly, Arne Duncan doesn't know what he's talking about. He's a politician using cheap one liners to cover up the fact that he doesn't know why kids don't graduate.

"Pearl got mad at me and said, 'Send me better kids,' which I'm happy to work on," Duncan said. "But you look at (Tennessee women's coach)
Pat Summitt
. She's frankly much more successful on the court than he is, and her players graduate."

Of course, the women's team doesn't have a league ready to give their players $3M per year to leave early, but Duncan's not trying to make a difference, he's trying to look good in a headline.

Every school is not Harvard (where he played). He just doesn't seem to understand that.

Boeheim is just making an epic ass out of himself. And he's taking the program down with him. Lets face it - the entire program is out of control. We love to throw rocks at Calipari and the like. Guess what: we are the bad guys. On top of it, JB can't even coach his team to stay within a possession of an -ing 16 seed playing ZONE against us of all things. Add to that, that he thinks he's just the smartest guy in the room everywhere he goes and can't keep his mouth shut. Why would start mouthing off about the APR NOW?? Next he gonna start saying they need to legalize heroin.

So if Fab and Dion leave this year we are probably not eligible for the tourney in 2014? Why aren't people (espec. the press) making a big deal about this.. I guess i'm not familiar with the rules for the APR but this could be a program killer?

My guess is if this goes down next year will be JB's last .. Our first yearin the ACC and we won't be eligible for the tourney.. that's just awesome! More importantly how is Kentucky immune to this?

Admin's, can we have a negative board and a positive board? All negative posts about players, team, coaches, or administration go in one, all positive posts in another? Then i can decide myself if i want to slit my wrists or be happy?

Just askin'

Don't play him.

That's what is happening to Fab. But, presumably they go to class until the risk of being sat down has passed. Its the period from April 1 through exams that you have little or no leverage over and that makes all the difference in the world.

The APR is pretty freaking complicated. Anything you hear on an NCAA tournament about next year's APR impact should be discounted immediately. They have no idea what they are talking about.

It's really not complicated at all. You get a point for being eligible and a point for remaining enrolled through the end of your semester/quarter. The total points are divided by the possible points and multiplied by 1,000. If you are over the threshold, you can participate. If you aren't, you can't. There are appeals in place to be granted a waiver, but the system isn't complicated. The problem with the APR is that despite its intentions, there are many loopholes and other ways it can be manipulated. It doesn't correlate to graduation rates as well as they'd like it to.

Kentucky pays other kids to take the classes for them. It's the Pay Pal Cal College way of getting away things and not getting caught.

I don't see why anybody would be bothered by what JB said there.

Because to many on here, no matter what JB says or does he's an idiot/embarrassment/out of touch/out of control.

Just ready JB's comments and I think they were freaking awesome. Go get 'em Jim!!!

All this requirement will do is force colleges to do what virtually all public elementary, middle and high schools are now doing...social promotion. You give out passing grades and promotion and never fail anyone. Schools don't want to lose federal funds so they are not stupid. They are passing lots of kids who don't deserve it. Its cooking the books. Now colleges will start doing it too...because nobody is going to give up the $$$ from not being eligible for the tourney.

What did JB say that was so awful?

2nd'd. Although I may have said "read" instead of "ready." :) His comments were perfect.

Seems to me it was a resonable response by JAB. Only problem is that JB continues to get taken out of context more than Charles Barkley is misquoted in his own autobiography.
