Notre Dame Post Game

Chris Bell is now 11 for 41 from 3 this season. 27%.

This is the guy that this staff was counting on being a much improved all around player. And it’s the guy who *should* be stepping up with Starling out.

Can’t think of a more disappointing and infuriating player we’ve had here in years.
He's been awful.

He's in his head. The missed free throws are the tell.

We need to use Bell as a screener to force a switch. He’s not getting open. He also won’t shoot unless he’s wide open. His days of being wide open is over.

He was never that good though. He’s a shooter who contributes nothing else. He’s a guy who should be on the back end of an 8 man rotation who comes in to shoot. I never got why we thought he could be a well rounded player. He’s never shown that potential.

Chris Bell seems like he thought he would be a draft pick eventually and is coming to the realization hes not even close, once he gets over that, maybe he can end up being a great roll player

Red doesn't appear confident in himself during games, let alone controlling the team.
It’s bizarre. He just had looked so much more energetic and confident in himself last season. Is Red dealing with burn out? If he is, JW needs to put him on leave of absence. Forget the optics, Red is doing no favors for himself, his players, his staff, and the fans if this is what is happening.

I was going to fly to San Fran and watch us play Cal and Stanford. No longer going. Too painful
They don't deserve the ticket sales.
Taylor has to realize and can’t switch off with some of these guys. Wing to wing maybe, but not with a big. We got burned several times today. I actually thought our effort was better on defense today, but our communication is still bad. Offensively, I’m not sure what we’re trying to accomplish. I know they want to play five out, but this team doesn’t have the players to play it.
We played better defense because we played a worse team. It means something. When we play Duke and North Carolina we're going to go right back to looking bad on defense.

Couple of comments...

Number one the horrible uniform clash of orange versus green was very displeasing to the eye.

Number two speaking of displeasing to the eye, we are beyond awful. Won't win an ACC game this year.

Number three, could Bell, Carlos, Taylor be any worse? Carlos best game so far but still awful. And Lampkin is a disgraceful out of shape turd. Seriously how did Cuse not realize what a mess he is.

Which brings me to number four. Westry can play. Tentative but can play. Only lineup I can see as competent would be
Lampkin (in 23 zone since he can't man up)
Jayre
Freeman
Moore
Westry

Next year can't come fast enough

How do we explain the shooting going so far backwards though?

Do you think Lampkin should be wearing 44? Do you think it should be a sacred number or just anyone can wear it?
I’m not a number person at all. Numbers don’t make the player to me. Just my thinking but honestly don’t care about it that much. I also don’t see 44 as a hoops number personally. Football would be a bit different. DC and Wallace were great players, no doubt.

it’s not football. 44 wasn’t any huge thing for hoops. It was DC and Wallace. That’s it.

They should have been giving it out for the last 25 years. SU being precious with it has been dumb.

Who knows? I don’t care to expend the energy to figure it out. And that’s kinda the point. He’s not good enough to have him be *that* critical to the teams success. I wish he left, honestly.

Probably got in his head about having to do "other things" and forgot about continuing to do the one thing he did well.

Davis shot 81% from line at Delaware last year averaging nearly 5 attempts per game. He’s shooting 64% this year averaging 4 attempts per game.

Just stellar coaching

Just out of curiosity, what sort of coaching would produce that kind of change.

He looks like he no longer gives a shite, and I think we have to ask how much GMc's departure has to do with that. All we heard last season was how much working with him had improved Bell's game, and now that he's not on staff, Bell's game is back in the toilet.
Gmac worked with Bell? I thought Gmac worked with the guards and Straughn the forwards.

Why didn't we just keep running action for Davis and Freeman in the post? Those guys got a bunch of good looks inside. Davis #7 would have fouled out. Probably Njie as well. Have Choppa feed the post or run off a screen away from the ball and be ready for a kick out 3. We should have dropped 80+ on this team.

Defense I just don't get how you take the lead or tie up the game and TWICE leave their best player WIDE open for a 3. How does that happen?!

Before this game, out of the normal starters, Donnie had the highest PER. JC was last and it was like 4.7. An average player is supposed to be at 15.

Donnie is fine. The worst thing that happened was people thinking he was going to be all world. That was never going to be the case.

Donnie is going to single-handledly win a couple of Jan/Feb games for us that we have no business winning. He's on a good track.
