Notre Dame Post Game

Chris Bell seems like he thought he would be a draft pick eventually and is coming to the realization hes not even close, once he gets over that, maybe he can end up being a great roll player
Red built him up way too much and tried to make him into a player he is not. His focus on becoming more versatile, driving to the basket, etc. has impacted his shooting ability. He was a great spot up shooter, which helped us. He was never going to be a dynamic all around player. He’s now neither.

If the university gave an inexperienced alumni who probably would have done the job for free a long term contract with a big buy out, it needs to fire all its lawyers in addition to its basketball coaches.
Wrong Re the lawyers. It is not their job to decide how long the contract is or for how much or the buy out. Now whoever did make those decisions are the ones to be looked at when and if it is time to do so.

Criticism is warranted when it’s warranted and today it’s really warranted. All of the coaching I saw last year is somehow completely gone and Red seems to have lost the feel for the structure of the flow of the game with subs and plays and just overall wherewithal. I’m not sure what’s going on to be completely honest in game. I thought last year he did such a good job with not a lot and some crazy behind the scenes situations. I’ve been to practices and I see the belief the kids have in him and then they get to the game and it’s like they have never practiced before. Not quite sure to be honest and I’m a big Red fan, but today and some other spots this year I don’t see the same coach as last year
Only difference is GMac and Judah ……

I’m sure it’s already been said 100x here but that game was literally agony to watch. Like zero percent of it was fun or entertaining. I’m absolutely shocked that I feel my “give a crap” for Syracuse basketball draining away. Been a diehard fan for over 40 years.

Why didn't we just keep running action for Davis and Freeman in the post? Those guys got a bunch of good looks inside. Davis #7 would have fouled out. Probably Njie as well. Have Choppa feed the post or run off a screen away from the ball and be ready for a kick out 3. We should have dropped 80+ on this team.

Defense I just don't get how you take the lead or tie up the game and TWICE leave their best player WIDE open for a 3. How does that happen?!
If you watch the play Moore jumped over to cover a guy on the corner who was already covered. He literally puts his hands on his head after the make because he realized he messed up and he looked like James Harden on defense.

It’s not about earning it. No one ever earned 44 at SU because it was always freshmen who got it before they played a minute.

Lampkin wanted it because he knew it means something at SU, and the guy wants to be a leader.
And it was his number in Colorado. It has to do with the street he grew up on in Houston.

If attendance plummets like I think it will this season how can JW not let him go? Does he just roll him out year 3 and pray? seems like it can bury the program even further down.

We are going to have to overpay to get a coach in here to turn this around. We will not be able to hire some young up and comer it will have to be a proven coach with a track record of winning or turning around a program.,

Attendance has been plummeting. I can’t imagine how bad it’s going to look at the end of the season.

Also, Notre Dame had 6 assists total and 15 turnovers and we lost.

And we out rebounded them, too. We made zero threes and they made 8. That was the difference, even with our terrible defense.

He keeps Red but there are massive changes to the staff, including a former HC as a supporting hand on Red's bench.

Why would someone like that come to coach under a lame duck coach unless it is their only option?

That's fair. However, Eddie coming in out of shape after taking a boatload of money is an issue.

We watched Joe Girard in questionable shape for years and run out of gas in 2nd halves repeatedly... Then he goes to Clemson for his final year and gets in the best shape of his life and his foot speed measurably improved and stamina in 2nd halves improved considerably.

Good programs ensure players are in shape...

If needed, they put players on regimens with nutritionists, customize workout and training sessions for players, set and track weight goals, etc.

Eddie looks and plays like he needs this.

All the problems of the late Boeheim era persisting, arguably getting worse. Autry is getting this year and next no matter what, but this team better be unrecognizable by March of 2026, or he is getting fired into the sun. Just awful.

The only way Autry should get next year is if Wildhack forces him to get rid of Griffin and the new dude from Virginia who didn't land that key recruit who used to be his own player.

Both of them gone, and get REAL FREAKING COACHES, including at least 1 with HC experience, say an older guy like Seth Greenberg who Autry used to be an assistant for. And you have to hire a defensive guru assistant from some place like Houston or the Big 12, where people are known for their defense.

Let Melo have a major say in who we hire and who we sign in the portal. This is trash. Just awful to watch.

I mean, good high school programs do that too.

JG3 final year at Clemson:

Career high for FG%, 3P%, FT%, RPG. 2nd best PPG. Career low in turnovers per game. Elite 8 appearance.

I know. I brought it up because we clearly didn't get his best due to poor conditioning.
