No way.give it to Red. Keep the staff in place and add a great recruiter. I think Devo would be a heck of an addition. All SU forever!!!
And save some money in the process.give it to Red. Keep the staff in place and add a great recruiter. I think Devo would be a heck of an addition. All SU forever!!!
Oats just said what everyone was thinking.Did you forget this previous bad mouth?
Coach K catches flak from unexpected place after comments on pausing college hoops season
For a sport that needs more excitement and rivalries and fewer canned quotes and faux deference, Alabama's Nate Oats trash-talking coaching legend Mike Krzyzewski is a welcome addition.sports.yahoo.com
Or throws chairs leaving a presser lolImagine a coach that speaks out when he shouldn't
I notice there is a lot of opposition to Oats as a possible replacement when Boeheim retires. Why is that? I hope that the AD feels the same way because I would hate to go up against him in recruiting. Taking off my UConn glasses, he’d be a home run hire.
Apparently some of you don't care what type of personality you bring into Syracuse. Oats would be a poor representative of the University and by extension, the city of Syracuse, regardless of what he Might do as a coach.
You’re right, it’d be a shame to have Oats succeed such a cheery, well mannered guy like JB with A flawless past.Apparently some of you don't care what type of personality you bring into Syracuse. Oats would be a poor representative of the University and by extension, the city of Syracuse, regardless of what he Might do as a coach.
Unless there is more than is out in the open, I think you are overblowing this. Yes he speaks his mind and maybe speaks out of hand. I have heard nothing truly improper though. He seems to be a guy with a ton of coaching upside. And if he ruffles a few feathers (pretty modestly from what I have seen), it's hardly the end of the world.Apparently some of you don't care what type of personality you bring into Syracuse. Oats would be a poor representative of the University and by extension, the city of Syracuse, regardless of what he Might do as a coach.
People aren’t over the Dome loss and the post game comments. Clearly and understandably. The postgame comments were stupid.I notice there is a lot of opposition to Oats as a possible replacement when Boeheim retires. Why is that? I hope that the AD feels the same way because I would hate to go up against him in recruiting. Taking off my UConn glasses, he’d be a home run hire.
Personally, I don't care for the post-game crowing (he did the same thing to Zona after the beatdown in the '18 NCAAs). If you have something to say, don't say it after the fact.People aren’t over the Dome loss and the post game comments. Clearly and understandably. The postgame comments were stupid.
Only after something like that could people here pretend to care about what he said to slight Coach K. When 95% of us probably had the same thoughts on our minds.
Reality is, he’s a good coach and great recruiter who to this date hasn’t brought probation on any of his schools and plays clean.
Unless Red can prove that he’s a great recruiter and developer of big men in the next year, I’d prefer to move the program in a different direction.agreed its going to be Red
It's a grain of salt kind of thing relative to those expressing strong opposition or support on any fan board. I don't know if there is "a lot of opposition to Oats" among the majority here, but I doubt it.I notice there is a lot of opposition to Oats as a possible replacement when Boeheim retires. Why is that? I hope that the AD feels the same way because I would hate to go up against him in recruiting. Taking off my UConn glasses, he’d be a home run hire.
I hear you on the P5 point. He has finished in 1st place in his conference 3 of the last 4 seasons and was named conference coach of the year each time. He is attracting 5 star interest in Bama (just signed a 5 star PG).Oats has had 1 good season at a P5 and people act like he is the second coming. He is a fake tough Hurley clone who I have no interest in being our next coach.
He signed through 2027 for like 3.25mm.I hear you on the P5 point. He has finished in 1st place in his conference 3 of the last 4 seasons and was named conference coach of the year each time. He is attracting 5 star interest in Bama (just signed a 5 star PG).
Fair or not, and whether people like his personality or not, he already is the next hot coach. A long NCAAT run will push that perception even further.
Unfortunately, that never seems to matter when certain programs want someone. He signed through 2027 for like 3.25mm.
One of the positives of Jim’s time here is the money price tag. He’s never cared to try to push his price up to my knowledgeI hear you but it matters coming here. Boeheim makes 2.5
Yeah, I have no false hope of Oats coming here.I hear you but it matters coming here. Boeheim makes 2.5
