Oats

give it to Red. Keep the staff in place and add a great recruiter. I think Devo would be a heck of an addition. All SU forever!!!
No way.

And save some money in the process. :(

Apparently some of you don't care what type of personality you bring into Syracuse. Oats would be a poor representative of the University and by extension, the city of Syracuse, regardless of what he Might do as a coach.

I notice there is a lot of opposition to Oats as a possible replacement when Boeheim retires. Why is that? I hope that the AD feels the same way because I would hate to go up against him in recruiting. Taking off my UConn glasses, he’d be a home run hire.

Yeah, if that hire somehow happened, the chicken littles would quiet down quite quickly once they saw us returning to 30 win seasons.

But with every passing season, someone who may have been attainable may have his pick of jobs - and the few that would be tough to compete with may be opening up around the time JB hangs it up... unfortunately I doubt this would ever happen.

Maybe. Is he a guy who doesn't give back or get involved in the community? Is he a guy who doesn't commit to helping his players become better humans and athletes?

Honestly asking because a few outspoken moments and antics would fade quickly if he clearly does well with the former.

You’re right, it’d be a shame to have Oats succeed such a cheery, well mannered guy like JB with A flawless past.

Unless there is more than is out in the open, I think you are overblowing this. Yes he speaks his mind and maybe speaks out of hand. I have heard nothing truly improper though. He seems to be a guy with a ton of coaching upside. And if he ruffles a few feathers (pretty modestly from what I have seen), it's hardly the end of the world.

People aren’t over the Dome loss and the post game comments. Clearly and understandably. The postgame comments were stupid.

Only after something like that could people here pretend to care about what he said to slight Coach K. When 95% of us probably had the same thoughts on our minds.

Reality is, he’s a good coach and great recruiter who to this date hasn’t brought probation on any of his schools and plays clean.

Personally, I don't care for the post-game crowing (he did the same thing to Zona after the beatdown in the '18 NCAAs). If you have something to say, don't say it after the fact.

I also enjoyed his comments about K. What I didn't enjoy is him backing off of those comments a few days later - really soft and weak, IMO.

It's a grain of salt kind of thing relative to those expressing strong opposition or support on any fan board. I don't know if there is "a lot of opposition to Oats" among the majority here, but I doubt it.

Personally, I would take Oats at SU in a heartbeat. However, I think he will have his choice of programs and schools are going to be backing up the Brinks truck to sign him IF he chooses to leave Bama.

Oats has had 1 good season at a P5 and people act like he is the second coming. He is a fake tough Hurley clone who I have no interest in being our next coach.

I hear you on the P5 point. He has finished in 1st place in his conference 3 of the last 4 seasons and was named conference coach of the year each time. He is attracting 5 star interest in Bama (just signed a 5 star PG).

Fair or not, and whether people like his personality or not, he already is the next hot coach. A long NCAAT run will push that perception even further.

He signed through 2027 for like 3.25mm.

I hear you but it matters coming here. Boeheim makes 2.5
One of the positives of Jim’s time here is the money price tag. He’s never cared to try to push his price up to my knowledge
