Ohio Postgame Discussion...

So what’s the over/under for wins this year? 12? 13? I figure it’s CFB Playoff time.
15! (gets off soap box, removes Orange colored glasses, comes off the victory high...)

Some thoughts:

DeVito demonstrated growth. Made some nice decisions on the RPOs to keep, and had two plays where he got flushed from the pocket, kept his head up and completed the pass. That said, I don't think we're going to win many games with less than 100 yards passing so there is absolutely more we need to see.

We haven't had a work horse back like Tucker in a really long time.

Chestnut had about the best debut a defensive freshman can.

I suspect that had Rhino played we would have seen Shrader out there a bit more. Just my hunch, but my guess is a lot of what we would have Shrader in to do involves Elmore.

Really an excellent game from the defense. White continues to impress.

Not sure what to make of Rutgers. They piled up points, but they only had a few more total yards today than we did and our yards per play was better. Schiano is still playing garbage offense so I'm sure we can expect him to just try to junk his way with crap.

Serious question: who had the better defensive debut: Chestnut or Cisco. IIRC, Cisco also had an interception in his debut, plus was in several tackles.

I’m skeptical about the Williams injury. I saw him standing on sideline unattended for awhile in full gear then he walked to centerfield and took a knee with rest of team. Maybe it was an ankle sprain that they put in a boot AFTER game as a precaution? Hopefully it’s not a high ankle or anything serious.

I dunno how a DB coulda done more in his first game than Duce did.

Tons of sure open field tackles.
Broke up what would have been a 4th down conversion.
(which is basically a turnover).
ONE-HANDED INT to ice it late.

My fear next week is Schiano is going to put 7-8 in the box, rush 5-6, and pressure TD into poor decisions while containing the run game.

Shrader needs to play next week
Why? For all we know he could fall to bits just like you perdict devito will. And devito ran the ball well. Put bias aside for this

I'm curious as to what the SU/Rutgers line will be. I'm guessing around a pick em?
Rutgers by 10. That will be the line based on the scores. Not saying it’s correct.
Agree with what most people are saying.
I feel TD was reading defenses much better. He was running the ball much better. The only issue I had with his play is I still did not see him really go through his progressions. Still seemed to focus a lot on Taj. Taj is a good receiver but so are the other players.
Appears DB did not want to use to much of the play book.

it’s Tucker. Then a cliff. Then a solid stable of RB 2s and 3s.

im still not sold on Lutz having the vision to be a traditional back for consistent RB2 carries. He needs some space.
I actually disagree. He is looking for an opening not just going to where the hole is suppose to be. I feel that is Howard and Adam’s problem.

Mang had a great game but Bleich was a beast too. As the game wore on he was just blasting open running lanes.
That's what happens when you add a former SEC starter through the portal. We get 3 years of him too. Pretty confident he'll end up being our best portal pickup when all is said and done.

This is my fear too - the most suspect part of our offense right now is down field passing. Tommy had a few opportunities where he overthrew Taj but there wasn't much going on there.
