Syracuse, N.Y. — Carrier Dome managing director Pete Sala's first message for anyone attending the Syracuse Crunch's Frozen Dome Classic in that facility on Saturday is the same as it is for any big Orange home football or basketball game — get there early.
That will help alleviate parking issues and, besides, there will be plenty to see and do all day.
A crowd approaching 30,000 is expected for the main event, a contest between the Crunch and Utica Comets that starts at 7 p.m. The opening act is a game matching Utica College and Oswego State at 3 p.m.
Sala said the Dome doors will open at noon. Important note: there is a no re-entry policy. If you leave, you can't come back in. Still, there will be interactive games, a Hall of Fame exhibit and autograph signings to pass the time.
Here's what you need to know about the parking, which is run by SU and set up similar to basketball and football games.
There are about 500-600 spots available in two lots west of the Dome, within short walking distance. Parking here costs $15.
There are a couple of parking garages within walking distance, as well. Parking here costs $25.
Parking is also available at Manley Field House and, as that lot fills up, at Skytop. Parking in both those lots costs $15. Free connective corridor buses and shuttle buses will run between those spots and the Dome.
Parking lots open at 9 a.m. Tailgating is allowed.
