Class of 2026 OT Javeion Cooper (FL) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (12/10/24)

It’s also an FSU article and slanted to them. It’s intended to drive clicks to them. They aren’t going to post an article with a quote from him saying “honestly, just going on the visit to campus for fun. Syracuse is my next home and I’m excited to spend the next 4 years there”

No idea what Cooper is thinking but it’s crazy to just give up because an article in another schools newspaper has Hope he might flip.
Fair enough.
I'm not typically a pessimist but we've seen this movie before, & most kids whether it be Florida or South Carolina, see; Sellers, LaNorris- are steered to their home teams, via family, friends, etc..
Not saying it's a done deal he'll flip, but just preparing myself to see him in the portal at some future date. JMHO

Frans crew also flipped a Florida kid from Florida so there’s that.

A huge difference between then and now, is that we have Fran Brown, an elite staff of recruiters and just won 10 games. That’s not something we’ve been able to say before.

obviously we will see kids flipped away from us at some point, recruiting is that way after all, but if Cooper is wavering, I’m happy to let Fran loose to keep him locked in.

Check out the Demetres Samuels movie. I think you’ll like how it ends.

Even if he flips to FSU, Norvell and Castellanos aren't winning enough games in '25 to keep Norvell employed.

A bit early to worry IMO
I hope you're right. Tony White is a great hire though as we know. He's never had FSU talent to run his defense with before

This article is doesn't worry me at all. Who knows what the convo was between Cooper and Fran, Fran may have encouraged the visit. Gillians visited Michigan last year and Ziyyon Bredell visited Vanderbilt while committed (and really late in the process) and neither de-committed. Fran isn't Schiano, he wants the kids to be able to make a good decision. The kid is only a junior, he's going to take visits -- we are just used to the Dino years where absolutely nobody ever committed to us as a junior.

Nah, that's 2-10 coaches. They have talent (except QB)
Sometimes jimmy’s and Joe’s are more important X’s and O’s

What was their record the previous year with the coaches?

Did Javeion get the Cuse commit downgrade treatment?

Looks like “on3” has put up a paywall for their “industry comparison” info, but he’s now rated as a 3 star at 85.92 there (below Sheffey who is an 87.05). Thought they had him as our top rated dude at 4 stars there.

I know stars don’t mean diddly, but I’m always curious about how the economics and incentives of that industry manifest themselves in player ratings.

Syracuse and FSU were, this past season, perfect examples of why QB is the most important position in all of team sports.
If both teams switched QBs, FSU would have been 10-3 and SU would have been 2-10

I'm seeing his rankings on his bio (not behind a paywall): Per On3, four stars and No. 181 overall. No. 559 overall and three stars per the On3 Industry Ranking (which is On3's version of the 247Sports Composite). He's also four stars and No. 318 overall per the 247S Composite...

Thanks for the info. I can only see his On3 Industry Ranking - everything else is paywalled.

I'll assume it's personal.

Id put his commitment as less than likely to hold.

FSU and Miami are desperate and their boosters are throwing big money at transfers and high level Florida high school prospects.

Calvin Russell is another prospect who may love Fran and staff, but will be presented with the opportunity to grab some heavy cash from one of the in-state programs.

It's not the kids per say, but the hanger ons and grifters in their ears miss guiding them out of selfish reasons (the grifters, not the kids)

I say SU does the opposite of the Todd and start paying a rankings guy to downgrade prospects to 2 stars.

Doing the opposite of what Rutgers does just seems like the smart thing to do.

George Costanza agrees
