I wonder if these shots are going to effect the body the same for some?

I assume these are to keep up with variants.
I am all in for the 2 shot vaccine. I become skeptical afterwards, just human nature.

Now reading pfizer and moderna wont help j&j screen and review their shot too.

“Booster shots” are a normal thing.

it’s a vaccine, not a miracle cure.
Hey, I'm all for doing my part for the greater good, just don't push it and start inconveniencing me.

Yep. It's not like Star Trek where Dr. McCoy can just manufacture a vaccine to cure a sickness from an alien planet by the 53rd minute of the episode.

Star Trek Ok GIF

So, you're skeptical and don't get a yearly flu shot?
Im skeptical more so because they announce this booster after supposedly declining to work with johnson and johnson to screen/improve their offering. Im waiting for more info on it all. It’s fair to be skeptical, these are new vaccines by ultimately competing companies without knowledge of how the virus or the world will look a year from now. Obviously I trust medical officials but it seems now that new findings/news comes out near daily on this stuff.

I get my flu shot.

That's much easier as no "human" trial is/was ever necessary.

Im allowed to have reactions to news. Im still getting my second dose first week of May. At this pace, we’ll like have entirely new findings and scientifically backed expectations by then.

I just brought up my current point of view for discussion.

No one said you weren't. Maybe I misread your post and took from it more than was there. I thought you were saying you were stepping back from it because of news coming out.

*huge sigh*
Well, he is in charge of a corporation that stands to make untold billions of dollars if he can sell this to the world, so maybe he is going to be a little partial to what is good for him and his company.

From what I have read from reading various articles, getting COVID is expected to give you immunity to the virus for at least a year, more likely substantially longer. As in years.

The vaccines are believed to provide a wider range of protection from COVID than actually getting infected and the length of immunity provided is also expected to last substantially longer than the immunity one gets from direct infection.

I could see a booster shot being needed for protection against the variants.

I am thinking a booster shot might be needed every 2 - 4 years.

The companies might recommend yearly shots. Hoping if it turns out this is overkill, and that science says the booster intervals are much longer.

I get my flu shot.
Well that makes one of us

***I am getting my second shot in a week***

Has anyone had any experience navigating receiving your second shot at a different location as your first? Hoping it's a simple process and not something providers avoid doing. Drove two and a half hours yesterday and would like to avoid that to get my second shot in a month.

it requires special stuff to get done to get the 2nd shot someplace else.. didnt they schedule you when you got the first one?

Science is constantly evolving, that's how it is and always has been.

The news of a third shot though... more ammo for the many who have very strong opinions about these vaccines. I bring this up a lot just because I see it often on social media. You should see the comments on the CDC instagram page.

as long as the vaccine remains free i dont see a big deal about having to get it yearly like the flu

Ugh really? That was what I was hoping to avoid. And no, was no scheduled for #2 yesterday.

Got my second Pfizer shot 2 days ago, hydrated very well that day and brought a big glass of water to bed with me, woke up in the middle of the night with sweats, sore arm, and a headache. Fell back to sleep and woke up the next morning feeling absolutely horrible, fever, muscle and body achs, cold sweats, swollen joints and mild spinning. Could barely get off the couch, slept in and out over the course of the day with all the symptoms continuing. Went to bed feeling rough to say the least. Woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat but feeling better. Got up the next day feeling better with what I would describe as the same feeling id get with a mild hangover after a night of drinking. I most definitely will not be getting another shot 6-12 months from now from pfizer, that I can promise.

Yikes. May make the lady prepare a victorian death bed for me prior to the second shot
