Our recruiting against peers

Need to be bowl eligible by november.

2 months from signing day, Syracuse football recruiting is last in ACC

Seems like we're still falling behind. Regardless of our performance on the field, we can only do so much if we don't have the talent. A little disconcerting to see where we are now but hopeful that Dino has some good athletics in mind as we close the next 2 months.
I'm not sure what the expectation is. We haven't regularly beaten our peers yet and have been last in our division. I think the uptick we've seen is pretty good considering that. If we put together a couple winning seasons and continue to go toe to toe with the likes of Clemson, we'll see bigger jump.

Most kids prefer to commit in the summer. This year, HCDB was going off 2 4-8 seasons. Chances are, most kids didn't see the improvement, last year. Just the 4-8's. The 2018, late haul, kids probably did.

Understandable, if we're down. If we bowl, win 8, etc. I think the late half of the class should uptick. I think the 2020 class is where we see the most results.

My expectation is our recruiting class should be better than the worst team in the P5 (Rutgers)

We won’t get high ranked kids on defense. We can’t sell it. We will get a few high ranked kids on offense. Until we are a legit ranked team, JUCO kids that we sneak through after one year for defense is our bread and butter.

Let’s be honest though. Last year we brought in Trill, Jonas, and Okechukwu. We bring in more legit defensive talent than we give ourselves credit for.

Trill says hi

I thought I read this would be the year we saw the biggest gains in recruiting.

Jeez, I haven’t been paying attention. That’s pretty bad. Early signing day is 2 months away.

...and Cisco

Cisco wasn't as highly rated/touted as those three, IIRC. I'm not taking anything away from him; he's a mid-season rookie all american player and at this point is the best player in our freshman class. I'm just saying he wasn't as highly touted.

I won’t chime in about our facilities but is no one nervous about our current incoming class? Yes, yes it may work out in the end but gosh we should have some legit talent already penciled in.

Right now who are the best offensive and defensive recruits?

I think it'll be solid and I also wouldn't be surprised to see Babers scour the waiver list (Grad transfers) to fill a hole or 2. Also, Babers seems to pick up some very good recruits late as well.

I would think the biggest selling point for young defenders is that you can play a major role from Day 1. My hope is early PT trumps some of our other recruiting shortcomings.

What is there to be nervous about?

The fact that recruiting has taken a step backwards in year 3? That we have no impact players so far? We might get bailed out with some late signings but this is not positive momentum and suggests that perception still hasn’t really changed. I’d expect this in year 1 not 3. Sometimes it’s not being pessimistic it’s just reality. There’s every reason to be concerned.
