Pathetic Press Conference From Shafer

So exactly what do you think the school should say with regards to eric?

Honestly, my comments and post had nothing to do with Syracuse's reporting or not reporting of injuries. Personally, I don't care I just thought it was weird the poster saying that he'd be pissed about his D1 20 year old son's injury was reported on by the head coach. Personally I think I'd want the the millions of people who saw my kid get blatantly roughed up on an illegal play know he's going to be ok.

They may not know yet just how good he is going to be. When he wakes up on Sunday, we will have a better idea.

Look, I'm as ticked about the time out as anyone, and SS nearly cost the Orange the game in that move alone. But to rip him a new one over that presser? Seriously?!! Until anyone here has ever been on the main stage at a press conference, let alone after a nail biter OT win as a football coach after losing your starting QB (for a second time in an early season with, oh by the way, a brand new boss who has your program under a microscope), it is not fair to criticize. Sweating to beat the band, adrenaline pumping, worried about his kids and people here are finding fault with his public persona?! This was not the RNC CNN debate, folks. To quote Buzz, well nevermind...

Nope. Was the right move. Rewatch the game.

Sorry buddy I am not going anywhere. I have not created a strawman I am not letting a narrative that this 3-0 start was unexpected and should be the main point in the PC. JB can abuse the media if he chooses to do as he is a HOF and has earned that. SS has not earned ANY BENEFIT of the doubt.

Anybody can treat the media on any way they like. It's usually not in their best interests, but after watching it? He was fine.

JB hasn't earned the right to be rude simply because he has won basketball games. I believe that his actions at such events have led us to be investigated twice and punished twice. Never pick your fights with guys that buy their ink in 20 gallon vats.
JB will forget more basketball than the media questioning him. The NCAA wants us because we are an easy target and run a lax program. SS has not earned that leeway.

Exactly. Two different people with two different reactions. That's why you air on the side of privacy. If the family wants to share more they can let him know. The press knows this is how it works,

presser didn't seem that bad to me, the elephant in the room was the dungey injury. if anyone wants to complain about pressers they should find the cmu coach and see what explanation he has for his kid getting ejected, because I will be you it is total BS.

SS didn't hurt himself in that PC but I didn't like the 3-0 stuff like every second. I am very happy we are 3-0 for the first in 24 years and I give SS credit for equaling last year's win total in only 3 games. I can give credit but honestly almost everyone had us winning these games. So don't color me surprised we are 3-0. Get to 5-1 and I will be super pumped.

First thing I looked for after the game were his comments on the ejection. He said ejection was completely justified but it wasn't targeting. Huh? Try to figure that one out.

One way to solve is have one of the Admin's lock it.

Agreed. However, SS rambling on about kudos to his OC and doing such a great job of sticking to the game plan, etc. (especially in the 2nd half where the OC and his play calling afforded us not one first down) is, well...just not keeping it real. I understand that it was a big adjustment to make when Dungey went out, but they had the half to make the adjustment and continue the game plan. SS himself stated in the presser that they prepared for this scenario if Dungey went down. Well, that second half offensive performance was just awful...again, not a one first down. Our defense was spent...other than what ultimately matters (the final score), CMU dominated the game statistically.

Classic. So because you and I expected it, he gets no real credit? Even with his #1 QB and #1HB going down? How about playing our 4th string walkon in OT? Did you account for that? This win went from a 80% with Dungey to 20% without. And we are 3-0.

Expectations shift and change. I'm pretty worried about our defense against passing teams and way more confident in Lester's system and Dungey than I thought I'd be.

We went to 20% to win when we were up 14 at HT and receiving the opening kickoff?
Umn, no and our D was shredded what did that have to with the offense. I give the coach credit for equaling last year' win total but these wins were expected.
I want to win games but I am not in the business of making things better than they are. SS sold that 3-0 like it was unexpected.
Our talent even with the injuries was higher rated than CMU. I glad we won I am way more upset at the D than I am the O. With Dungey we likely win by 7-14. I will say our O with Dungey looks legit and if he isn't out for more than a game or two we will make a bowl and my preseason expectations were off. I would say with Dungey we will make a bowl and I would have been wrong.

I bet jb has watched a movie and said that movie sucked. The guy who made that movie knows more about making a movie than jb ever will. JB has no right no matter how much he knows or thinks he knows to be a jerk. He just doesn't. There is a right way and a wrong way. And the NCAA wasn't looking at us in the early 90's until the Post Standard wrote the out of bounds series. Do they write that series without Jb being a jerk to them? Maybe. Maybe not. Being successful doesn't give you the right to be abusive or a bully.

JB isn't a film critic thus I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt on that. Gene Siskel or Roger Ebert were reviewing that movie I would give them the benefit of the doubt.
Listen I agree with your point I wish he would be nicer but he doesn't owe them anything more than coaching SU basketball. The media in 2015 aren't like the media in 1980-1990's. Today's media want to be part of the story and increase their brands ans make more $$$.
I don't think SS press conference was that bad he shouldn't have repeated 3-0 like every minute, but he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt JB would get.

Jb abused the media in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. I could tell you a lot of stories.

Too many drinks for some of the posters today. If I hadn't watched the win from 336 and just came on the forum to check the result I would have said we lost. Let's unite as cuse fans and enjoy Saturday night football, there's only so many weeks of great college action.

You are wrong. Our talent minus the injured is less than CMU especially at the most important position. They had a kid who might make the league. We won the game with a walk on. Get your head out of your ass.

Did anyone ask Shafer what he thought about the hit on Dungey, whether he thought the hit deserved supplemental discipline, or what he and the CMU chatted about after the game?
