There is difference between being bluntly loud aka me and being negative to be negative.

I call it the way I see it. I give positivity and am not afraid to be bluntly truthful in my opinions. People mistake that i talk in facts sometimes I mess that up and am not afraid to admit when I am wrong. The problem is the loudest people against me typically are the biggest homers who can’t even pretend to be objective.
For sure and there’s a place for actual dialogue about our team and the state of the program, positive or negative.

It’s the constant negativity just to be negative that’s already past getting old. It’s not even April, there’s still plenty of time for the roster to shake out and noone has any idea how we’re going to be next year yet.

It’s way more fun to be a positive sports fan than a negative one, especially when everything else in the world sucks like it does right now.

I agree, but Edwards needs a RS year to gain weight, JBA may not be ready, even if Sidibe plays smarter that is only an extra 5 to 8 mins a game.

Centers don't play 35-40mins a game. We need another big.

We have THREE of them. Right now.
CDB, Jesse, JBA
Plus Marek.

Even if JBA isn’t very good at basketball yet (TBD), he is a tall, large human being with 5 fouls to give.

We could use another SKILLED Big, but we don’t NEED one.

Have we ever carried FOUR Bigs??
OrangeRay, please pick up the Orange courtesy phone.
;)

The next coach is going to be absolutely annihilated by the negative nellies on here if the team doesn’t do better then our current roster. Imagine this board if the next coach goes sub .500
I was tough on Shafer as HC thought he was a joke and in over his head.

I have been pro-Dino and stayed that way even when we have struggled. I get frustrated at individual things but support the coach and realize he is the man for the job.

I think for hoops it’s all about who we hire and what they inherit. There are always going to be the insane negative and their always going to be bias pro coach idiots patience will be there depending on the situation.

I disagree that Edwards needs to redshirt. He was effective this year and will be much better next year. Maybe he doesn’t want to redshirt. Their priorities may not be the same as ours.
He was effective when the opponent was playing small, he was not effective when he had to go against another big man.

He can play against smaller people, he needs to gain weight to be effective against bigger people.

Lets call a spade a spade. This staff is mediocre at recruiting.
Its not sanctions, its not bags, its not location, its the staff.
This was painfully obvious to some of us a long time ago. A few others are starting to take notice. But there will always be holdouts who think the staff is doing juuust fine.

We have Top 10 facilities. Top 3 fan base. Serving par would be pulling in a top 10 recruiting class annually, on net. Mediocre would be hauling in a top 25 class. We can’t even do that consistently. The only other variable is the staff. They’re overpaid for these results.

it’s mind boggling that some still search the wreckage for excuses. Dior and Westry should be an expectation not the Hail Mary prayer. Have some standards. This is Syracuse.

We had 14 losses, at least 4 of those losses were do to being horribly out played on the front line and foul trouble.

If our freshmen were close last year they would have played over Marek at center. We need a big.

It March not August, nothing to worry about but we need another big.

OK, let's call a spade a spade. You're a mediocre fan.
It's not JB, it's not G-Mac, it's not recruiting, it's you.
Go back to watching deathpool reruns. Seems like you need a refresher on quips that are actually funny.

Using the Bobby Bowden example, that would be Willie Taggart getting fired in 2 years.

Bowden is a great comparison.

The end of his tenure is what I fear is happening here.
Hopefully Dior isn't our Joe Mauer. Mauer was going to be the savior for FSU and never showed up. Before that happened Bowden had never lost 3 games in a season at FSU, after he chose baseball they never lost less than 3 again.

He is the exact example that I always use as well. There is no record of any coach in their 70s in any sport maintaining success. Coach K would be the only one but he hasn't won the ACC regular season or made the Final Four in his 70s either.

Leonard Hamilton just won the ACC. He's got FSU humming along. Coack K is certainly maintaining success. Don't think it's an age thing at all.

I doubt Roy, Izzo, and Pitino will forget how to coach or recruit when they turn 70.

It's a style of play thing. People want to run and shoot, not play stall ball. This year was a step in the right direction.

And can he relate to kids now a days?

Coach K is certainly maintaining recruiting success. On the court results, not so much. They just went an entire decade without winning the ACC regular season even once. I'll give you that Hamilton had a nice year this year in what was probably the worst ACC conference in a decade. He's not really close to the figurehead level I was getting at. You can assume anything you want with those other coaches, but history in ALL sports says otherwise. Whether its because they start to not be able to relate to the players or they just have less energy and start delegating more to assts, every figurehead coach has crashed in their 70s and almost all are forced out against their will.

I don't relating to kids matters that much. They want to play in a style/situation that puts the ball in their hands. The two transfers that SU lost out on are both players that have pro aspirations. Ohio State lost a player to transfer and likely loses Wesson to the draft. Duke gets their replacement for Carey in Tape.

Agree 100%.

Parallels in terms of relative drop-off are clear.

Duke was a Top 10 team this year and went to the Elite 8 last year. Cmon. They won a title 5 years ago. They were one of the favorites to win it this year. Top 10 annually. Who cares about regular season ACC titles? They finished tied for 2nd behind another great 70 year old coach.

Most coaches don’t coach into their 70’s because they don’t want/need to. But there are some that do and are successful. Boeheim is one. Don’t think he, K or Hamilton are losing energy or the ability to relate to kids.

Hopkins was our best recruiter and left. Recruiting has been worse. Griff got Bazley and that did not pan out. I hope Dior plays for us. That's an outstanding commit.

Crap like what?
All's fair in love, war and recruiting. See Exhibit A: Isiah Stewart to Washington when Hopkins recruited him for SYR since 8th grade.

Ok, so are you one of the sanctions guys? Sanctions are the only reason that we have lost 13+ games 6 years in a row when that only occurred twice in the prior 3+ decades? Sanctions are the only reason we haven't been ranked in the top 10 in any poll even for a single week since 2013? 2013!!!!!!

You’d have to be naive to think the sanctions didn’t play a part of it. Clearly talent is down. JB can obviously still coach. Sweet 16 a couple years ago. FF before that.

So what do you see in the future based on current trajectory. Do you see things magically getting better as JB approaches 80?
I would also have to be naive to not think this is the new normal if we have 6 consecutive years of the same thing and an honest assessment of next year would seem to indicate a 7th year is on deck.

Funny in recruiting threads people say Boeheim is a good in game coach but can’t recruit. In game threads people say JB can’t coach but can recruit. Which is it
