Did you forget the part where JB credited Hop for ditching the ball screen? That elite 8 win was on Hop and JB’s willingness to listen.
Wish JB would remember that conversation a little more often...

Feels like this the longest a kid for us has taken. Shows he’s really doing his due diligence and most likely agonizing over it
Yup. Going to be very disappointing if ours fans crush him for leaving, should that be his choice.

Tyus Battle clearly bleeds a whole mess of orange. Our past players seemed to hardly put half the consideration in. Not to say they made poor/hasty choices

There's definitely more of a chance he comes back than I initially thought.

All that being said, I'm not expecting it. And honestly, that's OK. He had a great year.

Hughes/Carey/Boeheim will all add quality options. Brissett was the one I was more worried about without Bazley.

I agree with this. Its actually a very close call. He's not a first rounder right now. Can he work himself in pre-draft? I suppose. But likely, he is a guy in the 35-45 range. Maybe he gets an NBA cup of coffee, but likely little else. Can staying one more year get him closer to the 20-25 or better range, with more guaranteed money and a better shot of sticking around? Maybe, maybe not. I dont know, and clearly that is what they are trying to figure out too.

That being said, I respect his process here, and if he decides to go, nothing but the best.

Hope he stays though.

Its exciting if he stays because his ability to move up his draft stock, at that point, would hinge on deep ACC tourney and March runs. Absolutely crucial.

Thats the real hype train. With exception to maybe like Kris Dunn of Providence.

You talked to all 30 GMs and they told you that they wouldn't select him in the 1st round? Crazy. Or did you just read nbadraft.net or something that is absolutely meaningless and decide that it is an actual fact? Givony is probably the most respected draft guy at this point has had him at the end of the 1st for the last few weeks.

I think this dead on, and share the same sentiment. All but one mock, to my knowledge, doesn't have him going in the 1st round. And, it's quite probable he doesn't go to middle of the 2nd. So, there's a lot to ponder, especially with him being only a year away from graduating, if that is important to him as others have alluded to. But, he clearly wants to go pro, and probably had his mind made up that he was going, until reality hit him straight in the face that he's likely not a 1st round pick, forcing him to really have to sit down with a lot more intensity & difficulty than he likely ever presumably envisioned this decision being.

Well, at least we'll know soon. I expect him to go, and will gladly wish the kids well.

If he somehow ends up back at Syracuse, I'll be pleasantly surprised and excited about next year's team getting an unexpected shot in the arm.
If we were any other school I would say he's back but we have no luck lately so I have to see someone come back first.

I mean, if he been had hearing he is a very likely first rounder, I truly believe would have already declared given the landscape. Seems like no longer is it only sure thing lottery players that are declaring, but, as our own recent history has shown, any player with a strong likelihood of a guaranteed first round paycheck.

That being said my overall point is that he is being deliberate and deliberative and I respect the hell out of that.

I'm almost reluctant to post this, because it is no guarantee, but I have reason to believe the decision is trending toward returning.

If you put a gun to my head, I'd say he's coming back.

It's the first time I've truly believed we'd see Battle for a 3rd season.

Jake, quit hunting for likes... :)

Even if the kid wants to come back I see nothing wrong with him declaring and working out at the combine just for the experience and being ready for the next year.

He should declare even if he wants to come back.

Maybe he wants to focus on classes?

Fair enough. 99% of us have no problem if he leaves.
We all want him back of course.

Same. I was legit giving a reason he might want to not declare, wasn't being snarky

How exciting would that development be?

Core nucleus returning, far better depth -- could be a top 10-ish kind of year.
