Pitiful performance by the offense

Lol scoreless for 40 minutes and a dozen turnovers but its a clown thread. Wow
Yeah WOW. Get a handle on the ADD and perhaps let the entire game play out.

And my money is on Yale not getting blown out next week. Where's yours?

Yale getting blown out? What the hell r u talking about

RUTGERS? Villanova? Hobart? and oh yeah there is more.We play to the other teams talent level.

And yes,we have had more stall warnings than our opponets this year. Didn't Desko rail against the slow play year after year until this year.

If this is a fact, then I like our chances in the final 4.

Remain calm all is well.

Today was not an aberation. We needed a mircle finish to beat a mediocre team. The program has slipped but la la la la la all is well.
You are the one who said constantly sloppy play about a team that had third fewest turnovers per game this year and is top ten in scoring, shooting percentage, assists, and pts per game. All that without a superstar. This year has been all about excellent fundamentals and crisp movement, passing, and shooting.

I talking about someone who in this thread was on the same thought path. They also had SU losing and said that Yale would be blown out next week.

I thought you may have possibly read all the posts to this thread. Guess I was wrong. Sorry.

"We got the goals early in the game, and I thought we just got a little too confident with things," Desko said. "... We got sloppy, and I give them credit for the way they played. We did have some opportunities, one-on-one with the goalie in the second there, but we need to finish things. They found some momentum in their defense and were able to crawl back in."

But What woud the coach of SU know about the way his team actually played. LOL.

So now you limiting "constantly" to mean two quarters of play.

Gotcha.

So you think Desko should be replaced because of a couple of bad periods in a game they won in a year where they are the number one seed.

Just want to be clear where you are coming from.

I agree we should have high standards for lax. We are the premiere team when it comes to it but it doesn't make a lot of sense to rip a coach while the game is going on. Every team on this planet has bad games. If you don't care for Desko and his style everyone is entitled but calling for the coaches head when the game is on and we still have a chance simple makes no sense to me. Reset, relax and let's go Cuse!

Some of you aren't far away from this!

the sport of lacrosse has exploded at the high school level. More D1 colleges are playing it. Gone are the days that SU can stock pile all the top talent. Don't think criticism toward Desko is warranted.
YOu have a valid point but Syracuse is still bringing in top lax talent. Weaving them into a unit that can score goals in a consisten fashion is Desjp's prime responsibilityOf course defense is half the game and he has been successful inn that area. Yesterday's assist goal by JJto Donahue was classic in for,m and execution. I am a believer in finding more opportunities to move the ball closer and firing quick stick motion shots on goal. More like the Wlax team. I like how Gait coaches the ladies. Go Orange.

You quoted a post of mine and then your entire reply was to someone else it made no sense. Sorry you dont know how to use the quote and reply feature.

First let's not lose the fact that it was a tremendous comeback victory. Regardless of the lack of offensive capability for two quarters, the 'Cuse dominated the first and last quarters to WIN the game.
Second, the 'Cuse defense is one of the very best in college lacrosse.
Third, there was no lack of emotional poise by 'Cuse..they hung in and finally "Wiilled OUT" the win...this was not a 1/2 court shot that banged off the backboard and went in...it wasn't a hail marry pass...it was controlled attack that led to two offensive goals...well played.
Fourth, rather than say the offense sucked, how about the fact that the offense did enough to win...heck Melo scores 35 and Knicks score just under 100 and lose...was their offense better than the 'Cuse Lax offense...NOT TO ME...'CUSE WON!!!!

It's Good to be 'Cuse!!!!!

Sorry you missed the parts pertaining to you too. If you weren't so dedicated to SU lacrosse, I would continue railing on your knee jerk reactions and anti-Desko lunacy. But as another diehard SU fan, I understand parts of what you are about.

Instead lets just take a direct path to "GO SU" on this coming Saturday.

Anti Desko lunacy? Can u show me that? I would love to see my anti desko post. I think you may want to do yourself a favor and re-read the whole thread nothing u have said applies to me.

Well, there is this gem: "At some point u need to start holding desko accountable." :)

Sometimes emotions cause one to say things...

I've met both of you. Trust me, you're both on the same (Orange) side.

Let's go, Orange!!

No doubt emotions can get high when it comes to SU, you will get no argument from me there, and you know I certainly respect you as a poster and your opinion. However, I have to disagree with you as I dont see how that post is anti Desko at all. Its been 5 years since Brennan and SU is still a disaster at the X. What other top team do you know of that goes into every big game knowing it has zero chance of winning the battle at the X. At some point you have to make changes. My post wasnt indicating Desko be fired for the issue at the X, that would be lunacy. However, by accountable I was referring to either changing the recruiting strategy or getting a new volunteer assistant who specializes on faceoffs. Its beyond frustrating watching SU constantly lose the battle at the X and beyond embarassing to watch a kid from Nova win 22 of 24 and to watch a kid from a program that wasnt even a Div 1 school 5 years ago (Bryant) absolutely dominate us.

We all know that some "sure fire" face off guys have been recruited during the past years. For whatever reason things haven't gone as expected.

When you refer to holding the head coach "accountable", there isn't much room for mis-interpretation. Before the 2008 season, while observing the coaching staff, I had similar thoughts. Based on further life experience and this year's results, I'd say that Desko's going nowhere for 2+ years (4/5+ if he gets #12 this year)... even if he doesn't win another game.

I recall a game at the Dome when I was a student and wondered (out loud) why the offense was even on the field, as SU seemingly lost every face off. Things get better...

Agree with everything you posted except for the comment about being held accountable. It simply isnt the same as calling for someone to be fired, sorry its not. SU did bring in two highly ranked guys three years ago in Buhr and Daddio, obviously neither has panned out. Still thats one year in five, no big time X recruits two years ago, last year, or this incoming class. I have high hopes for Paduda and hopefully we can get Conroy to change his stance. Either way I am hopeful Paduda or Daddio can come up big on Saturday and get somewhere near 50%.

You would do well to go into politics.

I don't know how else you hold him "accountable". Are you going to give him a pay-cut based on face-off percentage? Is it an area of concern/improvement? Sure. Let's wait until the season is over before holding the coach "accountable".

Connor Russell, from my HS alma-mater, was that recruit for the coming year. Hopefully, one of the face off guys on next year's roster will make a jump in statistics. Winning closer to 50% of the draws would be a major relief.

Yes I was aware of Russell, good player unfortunate that medical issues will end his career, we certainly could have used him. As far as being held accountable, I think I outlined that above. Getting a directive from Gross to bring in a coach who is a faceof specialist is being held accountable. HUGE difference from being held accountable and advocating that someone be fired/let go.

Simply asking you to back up your comments. I said nothing about SU losing or anything Anti Desko. If you think a post saying Desko needs to be held accountable for 5 abysmal years in a row of terrible X play si advocating an anti desko policy, then I suggest you avoid the Fball board when we lose a couple games next year.

You're only allowed to have one HC and two assistant coaches on the team.

Who do you fire to bring in this "faceoff specialist"?

Rogers or Donahue?
