Pitt Post Game

Pitt simply didn't turn the ball over. Three turnovers the entire game to our 11. That was the difference.

To be fair, if you keep your own TO's to around 10 or so, you win most of those games.

It's when you're around 20 that you become unlikely to win, unless you relentlessly run up and down the court and score 90 points a game.

So I think my buddy was annoyed with me when I told him I shared that 4775 number the other day on Syracusefan. SU doesn't like revealing the actual attendance publicly because it's embarrassing for them. I don't think I'll be getting any real attendance figures anymore.

Pictures don't lie. Doesn't matter if he tells you or not. We can all see.

so i'm kinda still weighing the upside/downside of a much shorter concession line versus 3 week old hot dogs.

This is gaslighting. Plain and simple. It’s just not true. We are not getting better. We play the same game every time out. we can beat crummy teams, we lose to mid range teams, we get creamed by very good teams. We still have 1 road win. ITS ALMOST FEBRUARY.

I guess he forgot that we got blown out earlier this week.

Congrats to Eddie who many have dumped on. He had 23 rebounds today. No one has done that since Derrick Coleman in 1990.
Pretty ironic that Eddie matches Coleman’s career high in rebounds given how Coleman is one of those people who have dumped on him.

I was there and some of Reds moves really confused me.
We only lost by 4, we should have won.
Starling, our best player, only played 26 minutes.
Was yanked out of the first half with 2 fouls and basically stopped our offensive run.
Ended the game with 3 fouls.
Cuffe was yanked after also getting 2 fouls after 5 minutes. One foul was totally bogus.
Twice he threw up prayers when the shot clock was running out cause frankly no one wants to screw up metrics. Only played 9 minutes, no points but 2 rebounds.
Bell played 25 minutes and scored 12 points but literally did nothing else Except commit 2 turnovers.
No rebounds, no assists and his defense was so far off the player he wasn’t called for a single foul.
This game was ours for the taking and we *** the bed.
So incredibly disappointing.

but are the new seats more comfortable ?

Losing at home to a projected 10 seed but keeping it close and that is what we have to give a hat tip to (not disagreeing with you at all)... but man how the mighty have fallen. This slide we've been on for years is really coming to a head.
I told the Orange Nation clowns in the chat of their radio show that it's a dead season and they disagreed and mentioned it to Matt Park and made it a whole topic. I mean if you not playing towards the tourney it's a dead season and this is just another ho hum loss in this season.

They played hard but im not gaining any confidence in Red over that.

coleman won the game. eddie lost. fail to see the irony.

26 points and 23 rebounds in a BET victory somehow equates to 23 boards in a loss ? hashtag# not 44 worthy.
DC went #1 in the draft by the way. eddie ain't gettin' a phone call.

Well... some of that is likely because some folks were more attached to JB than the program independently.

Not sure if this is sarcasrm, OIG.
But those folks are a small minority of fans, since most of us are attached to competency and winning, no matter whose in charge. If Red was winning games, or hell, losing games but the effort especially defensively was there, fans would keep coming.
I blame the AD and Boeheim in particular, for systematically destroying the very thing he built for forty years. He more than overstayed his welcome, & JW compounded that mistake by hiring an inexperienced, unproven, untested, weak-minded HC to lead the jewel of our AD...and here we are. (End "Captain Obvious-like" rant)

John made a poor hire. He did a rookie mistake as a veteran. You ALWAYS open a national search and then include internal candidates as well.

I thoughts the guys played well today and battled the entire game. We just don’t have anyone on this team that can create for others. Eddie is probably the closest. JJ is a terrible passer. Big play was an offensive rebound late that Bell just watched Pitt lay it in. He just never went to get the ball. He did hit three big threes' but as soon as he has to dribble or pass he turns it over. Davis has terrible court awareness. There’s a couple of passes or rebounds he should get but just doesn’t anticipate where the ball is. He had another pass to the wing to Taylor that went straight out of bounds. Red did a good job managing the clock down the stretch and fouled at the right time. They seem to know what they want to do, but just don’t have players to make plays for each other. JJ has one speed and doesn’t know how to probe to get others guys open. The pregame on the radio talked about how much time they spent at practice yesterday working on puck and roll defense and the first plays to start each half resulted in dunks because help wasn’t there or Eddie didn’t recover quick enough. Coaches can only do so much.

Yeah, I keep watching on tv because I'm a sicko, but asking people to keep going to the dome when this is the product... going to be tough. Especially when the rest of the conference isn't that good either.
I'm pretty much consigned that we're going to lose to every team in the top half of the conference. So I was pleasantly surprised we kept it close and were competitive. Low bar but that's what it is this year.

i like red and listen to all the post pressers. so much more enjoyable than his predecessor . he actually listens to the whole question being posed and then answers sincerely to the best of his abilities. so refreshing after coach snark. but unfortunately i keep hearing the phrase " WE TALKED ABOUT " this or "WE WENT OVER THIS" before the game .if true then his message apparently ain't gettin' thru to the crew . and if you as the captain ain't reaching your players ... then this ship is gonna crash .

Not sarcasm at all.

I'm in my 40s and JB was HC before I was born. You make a lot of relationships in a tenure like that, and there are a lot of attachments.

It's not crazy to think that there are some people where Boeheim was no longer synonymous with Syracuse basketball... Boeheim was actually bigger than Syracuse basketball.

No Boeheim, less interest in Syracuse basketball.

Pretty simple.

I think you are absolutely correct. Moqui hasn't been around for a long time but he admitted several times that he was more of a JB fan than a Syracuse fan. I'm sure there are others who have disappeared who are the same.

spot on recap. My number one issue with Red is that he doesnt have a feel for his team. His substitution patterns, timing, combinations on the floor at the same time make no sense. It's almost like he is following some pre-determined script vs making adjustments based on what is happening during the game.
Red cost us this game. He had many options to other than sit JJ for the rest of the half. Carlos in my opiinon should have not played more than a few minutes as it was obvious he wasnt going to produce anything on O and as we know is a liability on D. Same with Bell he brought nothing.

I would have gone to a zone once JJ got his second foul. ND wasn't shooting the ball well and it could have protected JJ. Bottom line lots of moves that shouldn't have been made by Red and a few that he could have made. Bad loss that is on him.
