agree.I don't think Miner or her task force are the final deciders. If SU wanted a new stadium, and had the funding, it would get done.
agree.
and it appears that they dont have the $$$ a new stadium.
and while they want the land, they also need the $$ to do what they want, outside of the stadium.
lets just get the football IPF, get all the olympic sports to stop crying about their practice facilities and revist this in another 25 years or so.
I see nothing in the article that says it is "on hold" except the first sentence: " Plans for a new stadium for Syracuse University could be on hold for some time."
Nothing else in the article backs it up. Sure, the "task force" is no longer meeting but it's not like they had any sort of jurisdiction or influence. Sounds like now that that the state funding opportunity has passed for this year, it is back to the drawing board.
It's not on hold. The rep. for SU said they are actively considering options including dome renovations. It is on hold because there is no state funding any longer. In the second article posted, the attorney states that a new stadium doesn't get done without state funding as well as collaboration from a private party and an operator.
No state funding, no stadium. Unless of course SU can come up with all or most of the money and it was struggle to get 17 mil for the IPF. This is a $500 mil stadium we are talking about.

So until they have the money approved, then they are on hold? I guess they have always been on hold then.I am actively considering options to buy Microsoft.

If they are planning on building a stadium within city limits, it will never happen, too many obstructionists in the city, to get anything done.
Are some of the most iconic stadiums in America outdated? 25 more years still doesn't make it as old as ND, Michigan, etc. I just don't get some peoples POV. Renovate baby renovate. I don't care if the place is unrecognizable afterwards. It's OUR stadium.
It depends on the renovation. OUR dome has an air supported roof. By almost all accounts, that is an outdated architecture. If replaced with a hard structure, it would run in the hundreds of millions of dollars along with more for other enhancements. Are some of the most iconic stadiums in America outdated? 25 more years still doesn't make it as old as ND, Michigan, etc. I just don't get some peoples POV. i'm with you. give me benches, stairs, beer, and a game to watch. why do people need something so extravagant to watch a bunch of young men give each other brain damage? fancy pants girlymen should go to mirbeauAre some of the most iconic stadiums in America outdated? 25 more years still doesn't make it as old as ND, Michigan, etc. I just don't get some peoples POV.
