Possible future series with LSU

LSU fans had the same dismissive attitude before we pasted them in the '89 Hall of Fame Bowl, which is now known as the Outback Bowl. The Syracuse team was led by Todd Philcox and Robert Drummond. Joe Namath did the color work for TV. I remember Joe Willie saying at the outset that LSU should win easily. SU won 23-10 and it wasn't really that close. Good times all around that day. I hope history repeats itself.

Most of the guys posting on the LSU sites probably are too young to really remember that Syracuse was a national contender in the 80's and 90's. They forget their own bad years (late 90s) and though their own fall was shorter they conveniently overlook the fact that the SEC has never enforced academics nor abidance of rules. And yet they are still playing one of the winningest teams of all time.

I think Shafer will have the Orange playing at a much higher level by then. We have speed coming in and are recruiting more. Our QBs are very well suited to the ACC game, speed and our offense. I see Shafer bringing in players to a system and bringing up coaches into a system so that if we lose a coordinator, he can be replaced by another ready to step up, familiar. These should be very good games.

I'm ready. I'm looking forward to these games.

My wife was wondering why the canopy and chairs were out. I told her. She says you better bring a bigger car, she's coming, too! :)

P.S. My kids are interested, too.

Yeah Death Valley at night is kind of a Bucket List thing for a college sports fan.

Some ignorance in there. Still talking about MetLife even after the corrections came out. Sadly, most think we are still a doormat. The only way that changes is to break into the Top 25 and stick around for the rest of the season.

How about the one poster saying thumbs down to Syracuse, how about NC ST. NCST? What? Do these people have televisions or internet down there?

There very next post calling us the walking doormat of the ACC. How about check the standings. We finished in 3rd behind 2 top 10 teams.
I know I know I shouldn't care what another fan base has to say about us we can only talk bad about Rutgers and Uconn

A) We could probably compete with them.
B) I hear The Grove is unbelievable.

I'm with you on this one.

Didn't someone poison the trees?

Gotta be honest, this is pure win for us. Not a whole lot of upside for LSU, unless they view it as a name BCS program that they should expect to beat easily twice.

Just like Auburn.

ive given my list of acceptable teams allowed to take the field against the Orange at Giants Stadium, and they didnt make the cut. ;)

but you are correct in saying that i would say that the locals dont deserve this game...they dont. theyll just bitch and moan. just wait, it will be on labor day, or at noon or both or something...and everyone will have a cunniption.

Giants Stadium is Fn huge and if the Orange are only bringing 30k max, the other needs to bring around 55k. i just dont see LSU doing that.

play em at the Dome.

if they want a 3rd game, fine. but not up front.

Oh Lord

Well, if you want to WIN the game, you play it at the Dome. Period.

Since this game is going to be at LSU first, to me, the biggest part of this equation (other than being a true home and home) is that the buy out of the return to Syracuse be too huge for LSU to cancel.

Y'all are right that this isn't a big draw for people in NYC, but LSU really isn't a national brand like an tOSU, ND, Mich, UF, Bama, USC, etc. I think the purpose of this game would be to put LSU in front of the largest media market in the country in an effort to make LSU a national brand. Do I believe that it will work, eh not really but it would probably help a bit. If we wanted to do this right, we'd be playing PSU or ND up there. "

I agree.

And for u dumbass Giants Stadium haters, Syracuse playing LSU or ND there, is better for US, then them playing each other there.

Yeah Death Valley at night is kind of a Bucket List thing for a college sports fan.

The day Syracuse played Tulane in NOLA, we drove past Baton Rouge. You can see Death Valley from I-10. LSU Was paying Florida and the game was several hours off and the traffic was already horrible. Definitely a game where you arrive the day before or real early. With this many excited fans, it has to be a good time and a bucket list item!

While stationed at Barksdale AFB, near Shreveport, LA, i discovered that many people still thought the south would be rising up soon to shed the shackles of the north, there would be civil war! This was in the early nineties... NINETEEN NINETIES! They apparently missed the previous news of the prior 130 years so not noticing Syracuse was behind FSU and Clemson last season probably will take a while to register.

I don't take it personally, though, since many sports writers and commentators don't realize that in the last few years Syracuse won three owl games and beat WVU the last three outings, Louisville and NCState. If people paid to know about sports cannot be bothered to look at sports over the last 5 years, how can I expect a guy working his butt off to feed his family and enjoy his own team to do what the sports writers/commentators are supposed to do. Ignorance may be bliss, but Syracuse will bite a few unsuspecting teams on the posterior because they are blissful.

BCS / Power-5 schools don't do that to each other. They either cancel the whole series or reschedule a game if there is a scheduling problem.

Examples: the Syracuse vs. VPI series was dropped when SU requested a change in playing dates; WVU dropped their series with FSU at the last minute after their instant move to the Bevo conference. Those that want to point to the SU at Wyoming game need to recall that Wyoming was not member of a BCS auto-bid conference.

An attempt by a P-5 school to get out of a return game at another P-5 school would set a very bad precedent. Swofford would place a call to Slive to rectify the situation. It's not going to happen.

Kaiser Penn State and Syracuse didn't sell out Metlife last year and they didn't have a bowl game that game was their preseason bowl game. If the Cult of Joe didn't sell out the place then only Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State AND MAYBE Nebraska could sellout Metlife.

I want to win the game we have a better chance to win the game at the Dome. However, continue your crap about Metlife and I will dish and give it back.

You jumped the shark, your opinion is moot now.

Giants Stadium games are good for the players, good for the coaches, good for the school and good for most alumni...they're bad for townies.

Sorry all, but how the school feels about this is pretty clear.

If I actually cared about your insults which are always pretty much the same I would respond to it directly.
All I have learned is certain posters can't have fun and would rather everyone get a shiny gold star rather than have a little fun.
To your point it's ridiculous how you think MetLife games as SU home games helps us. I highly doubt you have personally talked to Dr. Gross on this subject. I have done so he said the MetLife games not Giants Stadium as much you want it to be called that we're signed with a Big East mindset not an ACC mind.
You will continue saying your point and I will mine. Most people prolly agree with both, but I don't want this debate now.

Also I give you credit you weren't one of the people who bitched last week. So I don't want anyone to think otherwise.

At this point in my life I've accepted that the average person is a bumbling imbecile that can barely put his pants on in the morning. If I ever start to have more generous sentiments on the subject, I just take a quick trip to Walmart to reset to realistic expectations. The result is that it is literally impossible for someone to say something so stupid that it shocks or disappoints me.

I mean, we're talking about a fan base that had a fan that couldn't figure out Syracuse had a decent sized airport - we're not dealing with a collection of rocket scientists.

All the thread on that board means to me is I can save gas money the next time I start having charitiable thoughts about people - I'll skip the Walmart trip and just go to the LSU boards.

All good al, when I insult, you'll know it. Not sure if I ever directed any at you. If so, likely a while ago.

For the record, you jumped 2 sharks, which is impressive. ;)

Yes, LSU should be in the Dome.

Gross is very good at telling people what they want to hear, even if he doesn't actually say what they want to hear.

Reports: TexanMark working details of road tailgate at Death Valley.

I may actually have to go to that stadium in Baton Rouge 8 miles from my house.

Can I come to your tailgate?

I have lived among LSU fans for 31 years. They don't believe anyone can play football outside of the SEC.

They have no respect at all for any team from the North. The tailgates are great and the fans will share.

Just be ready to be "Tiger Baited" to death down here....
