Possible future series with LSU

So do I, but Baton Rouge won't be so bad either. Ole Miss is more eye candy. LSU is more liver failure.

In this realm, I consider myself an over-achiever. I want both.

still remember like it was yesterday Sophomore year spring break in Nassau when a group of us spent a lot of 'quality time' with the Ole Miss cheerleaders who had come down in a big group on the same flight as us and stayed at the same hotel. Ahh to be young and free.

Do you want to play LSU the 1st or 2nd weekend to increase the chance of a sticky, humid Dome?
I think the sticky humid dome would favor a team from LA.

You guys are accentuating the negative and eliminating the positive by characterizing the comments on the LSU boards as harsh on Syracuse or overly critical. Sure, there are plenty of people taking jabs and spouting off but there are just as many people giving us respect and trying to relate what a great place Central New York is-perceptions be damned.

Besides, there is no better way to change perception than first hand. This would be a huge step forward for our program, especially if we can play competitively.

If we play LSU, winning one of these games early in a season could be the propellent we need as a program and a momentum booster for the regular season, If we lose and play well, it won't be looked at negatively, and if we don't play well, no one would change much of their opinion of us anyhow, which is where we are today, so I see as a positive for us, and not a real negative for LSU, as they will have a Northern Game on their slate. isn't this exactly what the big schools are supposed to be doing? Instead of playing a Texas State or Louisiana A & M, another words 4 cupcakes, they should be playing a more aggressive schedule against Power Conf teams. So a more realistic schedule for say an LSU would be to play an ACC and say a B1G school, 1 very good power conference school and then maybe 1 local program or what we call a cupcake. IMO, and I know there are lots of views on this, Division 1 programs should not play FCS programs at all. The days of a Savanah State being demolished by an FSU just doesn't make sense. I know it is about the money, but these schools need to generate a better market for themselves within their own conference, not go out and get "swaked" so that University can pay for Volley Ball or Men's gymnastics. But if we do play these schools or even a non power conf school, it should be limited to just 1/year. Unless of course you play Rutgirls...

After reading almost all of the posts from LSU fans, the general feeling I get is a feel of "tension" about playing in the Dome. I think most LSU fans are open to playing us but don't feel we deserve a home and home. This will be a wake up call for schools like Bama and LSU down the road. With the new playoff system set as it is, and if they follow it, the main focus is on who did you play. Again, if the SEC powerhouses want to live of the BCS views that plaing in the SEC is enough, and you don't have anything else to prove, look again. And as all the other BCS programs solidify thier schedules, it is going to get harder to play teams like Syracuse or say a Minnesota as these shools have to book tough non-conf schedules in order to compete for a Playoff Bid. I am predicting a slow demise of the SEC over the next 5 years. The BCS was their bread and butter, and now that it is gone and you most likely will have to play 2 very good non-conf teams, the reigning period the SEC Bolstered will be over. The SEC teams that will rise will be those that travel and play at other Poere Conference Schools and beef up the non-conf schedules. You saw it with Sabin (Bama). He doesn't want things to change, he likes it nice and slow, just what the SEC has become.

I realize JB is the biggest figure in the SU AD, but if Dr. Gross asked JB if he would play a basketball series as a carrot to get a 5 star football program to play us home/home I think JB would do it as he bleeds Orange thru and thru I have seen him at many SU football games. Boeheim watered down the non-conference schedules for basketball starting in 2004-2005 because he was helping the AD by playing more home games and getting more revenue for the athletic department because football attendance was starting to get apathetic. If you read when SU got snubbed in 2007 and 2008 JB said we played all those home games because the AD office needed the revenue that football wasn't helping with.

JB rarely misses a football game. He'd want to see LSU in the Dome himself.

Shouldn't we leverage football and basketball home and homes as a package? SU plays at Death Valley while the Tigers play BB at the Dome that year, then flip flop the next year. isn't that much more of a win/win for the schools.

I would be on board for high profile teams if that is what is necessary.

Well if LSU football gave us a home/home I think their basketball program would be worthy of a home/home which is my point. Syracuse basketball would be a draw for the LSU program. If they gave us a football home/home throwing in a basketball home/home shouldn't be that much for them to ask for.

Exactly, LSU is in the same boat as we are in BB vs. Football. We help their BB program with a high profile match up, nationally televised, and they help our football program with nationally televised games. The fans get a full mini taste of a rivalry over a two year stretch.

I heard the Dome is different than playing outside...more like a stuffy gym. You can only hope they come in unprepared like UCF did about 10 years ago.

BTW, I linked to the TigerDroppings thread easily...the other one I can't find. Is it on Riivals or Scoout?

Neither... I tried both. 247 perhaps?

And if the game was in MetLife you'd be telling us why it belongs there and local fans don't deserve a game like this in the Dome.
ive given my list of acceptable teams allowed to take the field against the Orange at Giants Stadium, and they didnt make the cut. ;)

but you are correct in saying that i would say that the locals dont deserve this game...they dont. theyll just bitch and moan. just wait, it will be on labor day, or at noon or both or something...and everyone will have a cunniption.

Giants Stadium is Fn huge and if the Orange are only bringing 30k max, the other needs to bring around 55k. i just dont see LSU doing that.

play em at the Dome.

if they want a 3rd game, fine. but not up front.

Oh Lord

i would hope to, LSU would certainly get my attention.

Giants would have to be away that sunday though....

Could be. I do recall games where our home team seemed to have a tougher time than away Southern teams on the really hot ones.

surprised carpetbagger 'Nole hasn't weighed in this

Not a chance Boeheim goes for this regardless of what it would mean for football. Not his job to help football.

I don't know if I necessarily agree with that. If it's to the benefit of the AD financially, then it is his job to help out. The basketball program benefits from a strong football program.

Because for them there is nothing to gain and everything to lose. If they win it doesn't "impress anyone" and if they lose it comes off looking like a terrible loss that kills there national title hopes. If the game was in Metlife at least you could spin it via the "recruiting angle" saying the trip is worth it but being in the Dome they can't even do that.

...because losing to a bowl team from a major conference is a disaster. Honestly it sounds like most of the LSU fans 'against'

This fan base has no need for an inferiority complex. LSU is happy to be playing us as they should be.

I could give a rat ass what their fan base says on a message board, they are no better than me and we will beat them anyway.
