the flip side of all this is that some people who have had spots for years because they never got rid of them may be opening up some as well.

My buddies all tailgate in Lehman so i'm shooting for there or UAV Garage - sounds like I should be fine no matter what

Shocked there are still passes left. I assume some people still don't understand the process and SU may have had more spots in reserve then they let on.

The available spaces they show aren't accurate. Last Thursday all the west campus lots were showing over 60% full, and Manley/Skytop was about 1/3 full. This was after only about 500 people had chosen their parking. The WEST lots only showed about 150-200 available spots. Now, a week later, there are still spots available.

I'm not really sure what the point of that is though. It's not like it's driving more sales through perceived scarcity, because unlike game tickets you can't buy before your allotted time or buy more than your allotted number of passes. I guess it could drive up next year's donations if people feel like they were close to missing out on their preferred lot, but that only works if most of those people don't use the internet and don't talk to other fans to find out there were still spots available a week after they thought they just made the cut.

I think early it definitely wasn't accurate. I think starting late last week we were starting to get a truer number of what was left but the passes don't seem to be moving as fast as I and other expected. For Raymond to still be available at this point is beyond surprising. Knowing the SU fanbase I think there's a good chance this whole new change in parking has gone over the heads of a decent amount of people who don't realize they have blown their chance to get west lot and other parking passes. Especially when you consider the fact that the west lots have been sold out for about 3 or 4 seasons in a row now and I mean completely sold out.

FYI, West lot still available as of 11:30 a.m. today. Was showing about 15 bubbles you could click on at that time.

I may have to buy west passes tomorrow when my slot is available and then resell at cost to board members.

Do the Fine mess people still need spots?

Were good OZ, appreciate the offer.

That is way less than before...maybe it will still be a few Thursday am.

Not sure this is the case but there was a significant number of spots reserved in West for staff parking on game days. There was some discussion about moving staff parking to South lots to accommodate more fans in West and busing them in. It's possible that they pulled the trigger on that and opened up additional spots in West.

Whatever happened I think it's clear that demand has been well satisfied. For the Fine Mess crew virtually everyone who had a pass last year got one this year and there were several who had been on waiting lists before that were able to buy passes this year for the first time.

I was a vocal skeptic that they could run this process efficiently but I admit I was wrong. By all accounts it has run very smoothly and the reps were well prepared to jump in and assist wherever necessary.

...

Yeah, they'd been parking some lower-priority employees at both Manley and down at the Physical Plant on Ainsley for a couple years, but a lot of ushers and others still had West spots. I think they've bumped a bunch more of those employees. As they should, IMO.

No doubt there are some who just used to pay whatever came to them as a bill and didnt realize that parking wasnt part of it any more and required some manual work this year.I would hoped though that people who missed their time slots were reached out to in some way do they arent left out to dry.

Thought they were pretty clear on that. And the fact that you had to register for the parking selection process gave them the opportunity to follow up with those who may not have realized it. They sent reminder emails if you did not register for parking and some of the reps reached out via phone to ensure everyone who bought seasons registered for parking selection.

I suppose the dark side of my brain was secretly hoping this thing would have crashed and burned so they would never do it again but seems to have worked remarkably well and they have obviously taken steps to ensure they can accommodate as many fans as possible with their preferred lots.
