Postgame Thoughts... Duke

I don't care about the "who's right" w/r/t Jalen Johnson, the issue is that it's a TOPIC AT ALL AS IT PERTAINS TO SYRACUSE.

It's an absolutely bone-headed move by JB.

I expect ESPN to drag out drama. JB has to avoid it.

OK...this one ill get on Jim for.
you recruited these guys, friend

Well at least by God we have Buddy and Marek. We just might be Rider without them.

This is the correct take IMO.
Bilas was a pri@k but JB put himself in the situation for no reason.

Even though his point actually may be right.
However in 2021 the truth doesn’t really matter sadly some times it’s perception and narratives.

1) With AG you never know what kind of effort you're going to get. Has talent but totally inconsistent and doesn't like playing zone defense. Would probably be more engaged if played m2m. Yet you look at the end of the game and his stats are pretty good. But his D is poor and hurts others.
2) JGIII is a very limited player. Too slow and lacking athleticism to get major minutes on a good ACC team. The kind of player we used to feast on when playing mid majors. And I like the kid.
3) MD plays hard every game but he's not a center and with him in the middle of the zone it just doesn't work. Put Fab in the middle this year and the team D would be light years better.
4) This is not a NCAAT team. The season will end early. And this pattern will continue unless JB gets better players and every year we become more irrelevant it gets less likely to recruit what we need to get back to winning.
How in the world do you know whether he likes playing zone or not? It isn't like we sprung this on him after he got here. And we don't have Fab. Nor do we have Melo. We have what we have.

Yup. I said it last week and I’ll say it again: most coaches desperately try to limit all distractions for their team. JB seems to relish in creating distractions. It’s exhausting and counter-productive.

Absolutely.

I don’t think as a player you can put him in that roll after anointing him the starter last year. Just can’t see him taking the role here.
He did it to the first Alan griffin.
