If Shrader can be a diet version of Dak we will be in great shape, obviously meaningless but an interesting comparison to see.

That switch was prompted by a switch from Moorhead to Leach. Not sure you could find a more drastic change in offensive philosophy.

He was probably hoping that important info would go unnoticed.

The philosophy made him not good enough to play QB under Leach. Did all their QBs get switched to WR?

Throwing better can be taught, throwing motion can be taught

Having a feel for the game can not.

luckily Shrader struggles with the throwing part that can be taught and not the feel for the game, which can not be taught

I don't think you realize how difficult it is to teach someone in their early 20s to change their throwing motion with a football in any significant way to improve within a quick timeframe. If that was the case anyone could throw like Dak Prescott after a few months. Its a foundation built upon and layered skills over decades.

Well, we had a S&C guy not too long ago who was a wizard at changing shooting technique in hoops. Not saying he changed it for the better… but It can be done.

Yep, but at the same time there have been a lot of good passing QBs that don't throw beautiful looking spirals. Eli comes to mind quickly.

What does basketball strength and conditioning coaches hurting basketball shooting have anything to do with Schrader?

Schrader is no Eli.

A lot of people on this board don’t realize this.

And a lot of people love Tommy's perfect 7v7 passing form and technique that hasn't won us a lot of games the past couple years because he lacks the in game adjustment and mental aspect. The intangibles are just not there for TD and his defenders here keep harping on his form and ability to throw the ball.

That hasn't helped us since 2018.

This is 2021. Dino knows it's an issue and that's why he made the change. The intangibles that make a difference in a close game, TD just doesn't have.

Of course the intangibles aren’t there, his pocket awareness and his vision are some of the worst i’ve seen. He has a golden arm with the football IQ of a walnut and the situational awareness of hellen keller, there’s no denying that. My issue here is there seems to be people on this board who think GS’s arm isn’t an issue and he can lead us to more than 6 wins. when the reality of it is we’re going to be lucky if we get to 6 with our current blend of QB play and play calling. You can’t win in the ACC with absolutely zero threat of pushing the ball down the field and GS has shown no reason for these defensive coordinators to respect his ability to move the ball down the field.

It's an interesting stat. Here are the end of season stat comparisons for 2013 Dak vs. 2019 Shrader:

Shrader:
88-153 (57.5%) for 1,170 yards, 8 TD's and 5 INT's
113 rush attempts for 587 yards and 6 TD's

Dak:
156-267 (58.4%) for 1,940 yards, 10 TD's and 7 INT's
134 rush attempts for 829 yards and 13 TD's (also had two receiving TD's)

I think we can win the games that are slug fests. We will get into trouble if we get into a situation where we need to drive the ball quickly. 2 minute drills or down a couple TDs in the 4th. Luckily the ACC stinks and I think rock fights are going to be fairly common.
