Class of 2024 QB Andy Bass (OK) Verbal to Oklahoma

What NIL? Everyone doesn't get NIL. It's cheaper to attend as an in state student and even then, they'll probably work something out with the financial aid office so that his payments are close to nothing.
orangefizz post #255 in the thread has a link where he talks about NIL.

The Adonai Foyle treatment?

Didn't Foyle go for free because his parents were professors there?
I think they were something like his legal guardians? Definitely not biological parents.

Yup. My parents knew them well at the time. Legal guardians to adoptive parents.
He also chose Colgate, because they were one of the only schools that didn't give him the Rick Pitino, Louisville recruiting style treatment.
He was disgusted by the recruiting process.

Was he an orphan?
Adopted officially at age 15

In his official biography, Foyle explained that he enrolled at Colgate University because "he wanted the opportunity to learn the principles of the game in a slower-paced setting, where the coach would be able to give him the attention he desired."

Thanks, but it didn’t answer the original question. Doesn’t really matter, anyway. Sounds like a tuition dodge.

He probably thought college was for education.

Said this 2 weeks ago and got hate. Can’t say anything that isn’t pro syracuse, prepare for the hate and snark replies.
Yeah it isn’t even anti-Syracuse, just a local kid going to his dream in-state school, apparently with his education covered via NIL instead of a scholarship. Hope we are wrong of course, but I don’t think we are

Except kid is not a long time resident of OK, may or not be his dream school and basically being offered as a PWO. We are offering a scholarship, so he should think long and hard where his best chance to play a significant role is. Also what would be his best fit academically(major et al).
Sounds to me, we really want him and OK is just offering because he is in their recruiting footprint.
He has more to consider than it appears at first glance.

It's cool. I was just stating my opinion. Plus, OU is his hometown team and has multiple analyst predictions in its favor. Additionally, not too long ago, I noticed that Andy on Twitter unfollowed the site I run, and it appears he doesn't follow any Syracuse-related folks any longer. Just an observation :)

As I posted a month ago, Andy said he’s receiving NIL money to pay for his scholarship and living expense. As an Oklahoma resident, the cost of attendance isn’t really that high with in-state tuition. I would expect him to commit to OU as a preferred walk on. The total cost of attendance at OU is $36,413.

Yes but as a PWO, he can not get training table, thus must pay for meals(may be covered by his NIL deal), but still not the training table with team. Their is no guarantee year to year that you will get anything.

If he wanted to come here he would have committed a long time ago. He’s literally down to 3 schools, 2 of which are PWO offers. The writing is on the wall here.

I do not say he will pick SU, only that his other choices have some drawbacks. Nil money does not give him what a scholarship would. He is not a native of OK.
