Class of 2021 QB Kaidon Salter (TX) Portal to Colorado

Happened his freshman year at Tennessee. Anyone heard anything since regarding him at Liberty? Kids do dumb things as 17 and 18 yrs old. He’s now 22. No reason to hold the kid for something that happened 4 yrs ago with nothing in between.

This fan base gets one glimmer of something that one kid did back in the day and immediately writes him off. Just sad tbh.

Umm...1 person made the comment. The whole fanbase didn't jump on board. Don't make it more than it was.

Eh, not sure that's good reasoning. Fran doesn't need an expectation that he never misses.
Its not about missing. Its about bringing in a guy he thinks fits his program. You can miss on talent but its pretty hard to miss on fit, far too many relationships between coaches to miss out on massive personality flaws especially with transfers.

Yeah it’s obvious Fran is running the program, but your statement “At the end of the day you bring in the best player you can.” seems implies talent is more important than fit. Sounds like that wasn’t your intention.

Talent is very important, fit is important too.
But if we are giving Fran the benefit of the doubt that he has earned then:

1) he thinks this guy is a fit or else he wouldnt offer
2) he is by far the most talented guy we are looking at for QB
3) Fit + talent is a spectrum and if you aren't the #1 fit but you have an amazing amount of talent that is likely worth more than a slightly better fit with less talent.
4) its fran's job to make players into better men, he has said so himself. You shouldn't write someone off who made a mistake 3 years ago, this is a new situation with a more accountable coach/team.

My comment was more on seeing every single kid that has made a mistake in the past, this board goes on to rip them to shreds them and then says “we can’t allow that kid to come here cause of what he did. He’s not a culture fit.”

Again my comment is based on this. Not that one person made a comment.

Maybe it’s just me but if you bring in a QB to lead your team and be the face of your program, I would prefer that he doesn’t have any run-ins with police that lead to his dismissal. I know we all deserve second chances but I just think this program is too fragile at this point to risk bringing in a player with a checkered past to lead your program.

Technically all transfers from Tennessee have a checkered past.

I don’t know why some people are down on this kid? There are only so many elite QB’s in CFB. For most teams whoever you have will have warts. Kyle spoiled us this season. If we can get this kid i’m going all in. Experienced, 3rd year starters with all the physical tools you want. Put him in a Nixon offense with the weapons we should have back and this kid will put up some numbers next season. Numbers and experience we’ll need with that schedule.

I’m all in.

What is there not to like about this kid?

In my opinion, not much. Some have said he didn’t have a good year in 24. I believe he was injured and his best receiver hit the portal. If it’s between UVA, Collins and Salter give me Salter. Then staff will have a veteran for tough 25 season and another year of evaluation of the current young QBs.

Oklahoma transfer QB Jackson Arnold committed to Auburn. I would’ve thought Auburn were the favorites for Salter prior to that.

We have a real chance here?

I watched some of their games, OL was awful … against Sam Houston St it looked like a jail break at times. Started game 1-5 with a throw away, couple of drops on catchable balls and a receiver ran the wrong route. He had no help other than a good ground game. Receiving corp did him no favors was surprised how bad they were honestly.

Keep him away from Coach Prime, which is supposed to be where he is visiting next week. Fran can go toe to toe with anyone but would prefer we lock him up now of course

Well could you imagine the ripples if he goes and visits Prime and then commits to Cuse afterwards? That would be fun to watch IMHO …

Is it weird that he and Colandrea are visiting on the same day? Seems like it would be a little awkward that you weren't the only QB being hosted
