Class of 2023 QB LaNorris Sellers (SC) Flipped to South Carolina

I don't have any idea if he'll flip or not but I do know that every comment that I've seen from him states that he will be signing with Syracuse. The rumors are bs until proven otherwise.

He is not coming to Syracuse. I posted about it a few days ago. And people would rather make a joke than read between the lines, and then say I must not want him to come to Syracuse. It is what it is. It wasn't for lack of effort by our staff.

Generally agree, but we have Lamson who likely has four years left and DelRioWilson and Morgan who have 3. That's 4 scholarship QBs for 2023. If none of them distinguish themselves as a QB2 in 2023 we will look pretty attractive to the HS and Portal class of 2024.

All becomes moot if Sellers does not flip, of course.

The beauty of the portal. They can find another QB at any point. Really wanted Cuse to get this kid but if it's not to be oh well. I understand the allure of his in-state school so no hard feelings.

I would expect that in the scenario I presented we would pursue both a portal QB with 1-2 years left AND a HS prospect at QB next year. Really don’t need to take a Mitch Kimball (?) type kid just to fill a roster spot

Who cares about rating? I do to a certain extent, but if they can play and fit our system, that is the important thing.

Rankings don’t matter says the FB program that has how many winning seasons in 2 decades? If we were bottom of rankings every year and top 3rd of the ACC standings every year then you could argue it doesn’t matter. In our case, there’s a pretty direct correlation.

However, if most of this class signs I think we move up in the rankings from the bottom and I’m okay with that.

If we keep Sellers, that is three 4 star recruits in one QB room. Plus Lamson.

If we lose him, we have two 4 star QBs and Lamson + whoever Beck can get still.

And, keep in mind, if things go south at USC for Sellers, I'm guessing he'd at least have a chat with Beck to portal after the year.

I want Sellers. I think he's a real talent. I think Beck would unleash this kid like USC cannot. But with Shrader and CDRW and Lamson, I'm absolutely fine.

Honestly, this is house money right now. We are going punch for punch with a very solid SEC team for a 4 star dual threat QB grabbing him from his backyard.

My feelings as welll. The perception is the big thing at this point as someone else mentioned. But we rarely are in a situation where we have some real QB’s sitting the bench and we do now. So we’ll be fine if he doesn’t sign. If we lost 3 OL/DL that would really matter (not expecting that to happen, just making a comparison)

And there’s a massive difference between a 3 and 1 or unrated recruit. It’s not even an argument.

And the difference between a 3 star and unrated is usually whether some scout watched them.

Gotcha. I see what you’re saying. I would argue having a class of 20 - 3 star recruits would be far superior to a class of 1 stars. But obviously the 4 to 5 star recruits have a big impact on your overall ranking and we almost never get many/any of those.

If it doesn't happen our staff did its best - Beck is as good as it gets at any level. Lots of pressure on these young men, from an expanding number of directions (unfortunately, IMO). I still hold hope. But if it's not in the cards, wish him well and we'll be here if he changes his mind down the road. Of any unit I think our QB room is the best positioned to absorb a recruiting loss. We'll be fine.
