Class of 2023 QB Marcus Stokes (FL) Portal to Memphis

And moves right into SU housing. Question. I assume the players will be home and not on campus. Does Fran have a group of them come back for this visit?
Not sure, I wonder if some guys come back anyway after Christmas.

Ah yes, the classic message board move: when you can’t counter the argument, just throw out an insult and hope nobody notices you’ve got nothing else.

You can call me whatever cousin of whatever saint you want, it doesn’t change the fact that you still haven’t addressed a single point. Not one. You’ve dodged the size‑to‑traits argument, dodged the competition argument, dodged the projection argument, and now you’re down to “lol vocabulary.”

Congrats, you’ve officially run out of football takes.

Meanwhile, the actual discussion hasn’t moved an inch. Undersized QBs only succeed when they have elite traits, and Dickens hasn’t shown any of the traits that historically overcome those limitations. That’s not trash talk, that’s reality backed by decades of data.

If your best rebuttal is a middle school jab about typing skills, then thanks you just confirmed exactly why I had to explain probability to you in the first place.

When you’re ready to talk football instead of throwing confetti insults, let me know.

Sorry ChatGPT

You still haven’t touched the argument. Not the size to traits reality, not the competition context, not the projection gap, not the decades of data behind it.

Just “Sorry ChatGPT.”

If that’s the best you’ve got, thanks for confirming exactly why the football side of this conversation has been a one way street. When you’re ready to move past the lame quips and actually talk ball I’ll be right here.
Hi Comstock. Welcome back. I disliked your posts because I want to read about this recruit, not your inane argument about another QB's height. When I disliked Comstock's posts he would also go back and dig up my old posts in other threads and dislike them. Happy Kwanza!

Calling it “hyperbole” doesn’t make the point disappear. When something happens one or two percent of the time, that is a miracle outcome in football terms. That’s not exaggeration that’s statistical reality. You keep pretending the rare exception is the norm because it’s the only way your argument holds together.

Undersized QBs without elite traits almost never succeed at the P4 level. Not “rarely.” Not “sometimes.” Almost never. And the few who do succeed have something. Elite arm talent, elite processing, elite accuracy, elite athleticism, elite playmaking. Something that clearly separates them.

And your “results matter” angle falls apart because the results you’re pointing to came against the exact level of competition he was recruited for. That’s not proof he’s special. That’s proof he’s correctly slotted. Performing well at the level evaluators projected you to perform at doesn’t magically turn you into a P4 outlier.

You’re arguing from possibility because that’s all you’ve got. I’m arguing from probability because that’s how actual evaluation works. Could he be the one percent exception? Sure. Anything is technically possible. But pretending the one percent outcome is the baseline isn’t optimism, it’s denial.

And calling that reality “hyperbole” just tells me you don’t have a real counterargument.
What’s pavias elite trait? He’s 5’8 even though it says he’s 6’1 on the team website

It’s hyperbole because you are just making stuff up. This reads like a bad AI answer just repeating opinions as facts.
Diego Pavia says hi.

Also, welcome back Comstock44!

LOL this whole thread is dumb. This kids situation was dumb. Context does matter. Pretending it doesn't, isn't arguing in good faith and exists in a bubble. The problem here was he was too comfortable filming himself saying it, not understanding that he needs to be more empathetic than that. If sthere's nothing additional to add, outside of what we already know, than he's more than served his punishment IF he is in fact talented enough to be playing at a higher level and this is the only thing preventing that.
stop the nonsense. Kid is coming for a visit. Period, period. People way to sensitive. Ok to break all kinds of laws get caught and get released. But say a racial slur and have your life ruined. Bill—-t. A quote from the movie Stripes “ lighten up Francis “. Out

You are the "person" that dug up and disliked my old posts. I am not the message board police, feel free to post whatever you like, but don't snowflake it up and then dislike old posts because someone didn't like your long drawn out argument. Stop clogging up a thread that is supposed to be information on a recruit and take the arguments to the football board and start a thread on QB height as it relates to our needs.
Oh, but I am.

Oh look the guy who jumped in just to hit the dislike button is suddenly the message board police.

The “I just want to read about the recruit” act isn't going to fly. My second to last post was literally about Stokes. You just didn’t like getting your argument folded, so you went nostalgia‑mode and yelled out an old username like it was some kind of finishing move.

My posts about QB height are directly relevant to Stokes. He’s 6'2", built for P4 football and projects upward. That’s the entire point. Comparing him to a 5'11", 180 lb. QB isn’t off‑topic. It’s explaining why Stokes is the better fit for this level.

If you’ve got something to add about Stokes, great. If all you’ve got is “Hi Comstock” and a dislike spree, then thanks for confirming you’re here for the drama not the football.

Knock it off. First and last warning.

Oh, but I am.
Our mods hard at work ;)

Winterlude ends on 1/9/26. Registration for new grad students begins on 1/5/26. Registration for new undergrads begins on 1/10/26. Spring Classes begin on 1/12/26.

Settle down doogie. You’re coming on a little hot for a first date. I’ve got more posts than you have time this week to copy/paste from AI.

This thread and the newbie is a perfect example of why I can hardly come on here anymore after many years as a poster. Again. This is way beyond the original topic. If you want a discussion about short QBs and whether they can be good or not, it should be a separate discussion in the Football board. And the amount of new peoople on Syracusefan who argue with long time, really informed posters is getting tiring.

I want to correct myself on my above post. I think the topic on it's own about how a short QB could succeed is a very interesting one, and in reality should be moved to the football board where so many others would see it and offer opinions. There are so many good examples in the above posts of shorter QBs who have done well. And really we have newbies that have a lot to offer, and in whole DomeFoam is not incorrect, just not familiar where certain topics should go. Recruiting is just that. Film on the player, updates on rankings, accolades, visits, etc. Honestly, many don't really look at the recruiting topics. They just want the final... are they coming. The topic on height is an interesting one and as DomeDog said (I think) should be moved to the main football board. Even if it is in relation to Stokes. It is still not a recruiting specific topic as it involves discussing another player or players. It is more of a general topic.

Fran Brown has repeatedly stated that he plans to bring in two transfer portal QBs.

Hopefully, one will end up being Stokes.

If the other is the lower level 5-11 kid -- great.

We need experience in the QB room, with guys who can step in and do better than Collins / Filardi / Carney this past year.

Landing two transfers is a tall order, with Angeli slated to return, with two years left. So we might have to chase guys who lack a measureable -- like the 5-11 kid.

I'd rather have a 5-11 proven commodity from FCS than a 6-3 kid who can't play, like Collins.

At some point, you just have to land players who can produce, and worry about ideal measureables second.

And goodness gracious we need someone to run the scout team with quality reps for the D.

“Horse. Dead. Beaten.” is what people say when they’ve run out of actual arguments and need a shortcut to avoid admitting they can’t refute anything.

If the discussion were actually dead, you’d have addressed even one of the points:

– undersized QBs needing elite traits
– the difference between possibility and probability
– FCS production not translating automatically
– the historical rarity of sub‑6'0 QBs succeeding without special tools

But you didn’t touch any of it. You just threw out a bumper sticker phrase and hoped it would end the conversation.

If anything’s been beaten here, it’s your ability to counter the argument.
Brother. I don't give one hoot about this argument. It's just tedious. Like listening to 8 year old children go back and forth over whose turn it is.
