Im gonna go out on a limb and say all ten at some point. Hear me out; Let's start with the "gimmes"

Joseph, Xmas,Melo,Waiters,MCW? I'll say all have a legimate chance if they keep improving.

I also can make a case for are other five. Bare with me- If scoop can have a solid year as a pass first, floor general PG I can see him going late in the 2nd round to a team that needs a pg that dosent need shots and can manage a game, A la Andre Miller maybe.

A solid year(14pts,5ast,3stl for Triche and another solid year as a senior gets Triche drafted.

C.J reminds me of Marvin Williams of the Hawks who got drafted as the 6th man from North Carolina. Solid mid range, getting better on the outside and can slam with the best of them with his long arms. Good defensive player and its always an advantage to be left handed in basketball. He could get drafted as a Jr owning that 6th man spot esp if we go far. If not a Jr then deff when he's a senior starting for a top 5 team.

Southerland. Boy he can shoot and I read somewhere where he did some crazy dunk at midnight madness? So he's also athletic. If he continues to shoot lights out and improves on defense, he takes Joseph spot next year starting at the 3 as a senior and again if he has a solid senior year (shooting over 40% from 3) he too gets drafted. He's a late bloomer but I think he can really impact a season. If anything else he can be a Glen Rice "type" player.

BMK. This full season and two more LONG seasons will improve BMK play and physical make up dramatically and all I'm going to say is: Hard work usually pays off.

*Also note long seasons thru March give these players publicity.

Bash away

It depends on what you mean by "go to the NBA". Does that mean get drafted? Does it mean make an active roster? Does it mean become a regular player in an NBA rotation? Does it mean stay in the league for a set number of year?

Not sure about the NBA, but in the first 10 guys there is one, maybe two guys, who wont play pro. That is very impressive.

And I think an argument could be made that eight of the first 10 could improve enough to make an NBA roster depending how they develop and how their respective drafts sort out.

This is an impressive bunch.

I should be more clear. Drafted or makin a team undrafted. Sorry using my Droid.

I love your positive outlook and obviously hope you're correct, but I think you seriously underestimate how difficult it is to make the NBA and how incredibly few roster spots there are.

Scoop and Triche simply are not NBA-level players, guys with their ability are a dime a dozen. Joseph has a shot, but at this point I am not convinced that he's better than Demetris Nichols who couldn't carve out an NBA career.

Jury is still way out on everyone else. Fab is definitely the most likely of all.

Agreed on 1.

Fab - draft guaranteed. Play? uncertain.
Joseph - no, not an NBA player. He had a good chance to get drafted but not now with the nagging injuries. I give him 50/50 to make a roster. Final destination Europe.
Waiters - has the talent, but is an undersized SG who is not a very good 3 point shooter. Will never play PG in NBA. Europe.
Triche - not NBA material. Might find a spot in Europe.
CJ - not NBA material at this point. Can pull a Rick Jackson and make a push for it his senior year though.
XMAS - not NBA material at this point. If he plays anything it's PF but has absolutely no NBA PF game right now. Re-evaluate next year.
MCW - not NBA material at this point. Has the size but no explosiveness yet, not a good handle. Re-evaluate next year.

BMK - no way. Might be a very good college player, but no NBA
Scoop - no way, not even a late 2nd round pick

heres where i am on the subject
Fab
Joseph- will be drafted, what happens after that is up to him
CHristmas
Waiters- you may say he's small for a 2 or not good enough for point but hes our best player this year
MCW
Baye- i think he has the size and when he improves over the next 3 years he will become an nba player
Cj- probably, not sure on his size yet must improve handle
James- Needs to continue his good play as of late, but he has an nba stroke.

those are who i think are definately going to play in the league at some point in their post-cuse careers.

BMK - no way. Might be a very good college player, but no NBA
Scoop - no way, not even a late 2nd round pick

If Darryl Watkins can get a shot, I won't say no to any big man that still has a few years of development ahead of him. You can't teach height.

All 10?? How many former SU players are even in the league right now?

Joseph will get drafted and Fab should make the league based on potential in a couple years. I don't see anyone else who would get a look. Dion is too small to play two guard in the league and he is not a PG. If he could be showcased as a point..he might have a chance.

Christmas and MCW - who knows? Jury still out.

And the best FU to everyone will be if Mookie is the only one who makes it.

I'd say every guy in our 10 man rotation will get paid to play bball. How many will get paid to play in the NBA is a tough question as most of the more physically NBA type of talent resides in the younger more unproven group.

Seniors:
I feel that Kris still needs to have a pretty dang good season to get drafted especially after knee surgery. He has a good chance though.

I think Scoop has no chance unless he goes D-League, plays great gets a 15day contract and really impresses. I've never seen him as an NBA type player or as having NBA type tallent.

Juniors:
Brandon is going to wind up being a very good four year college player that isn't quite good enough at anything to make an NBA pay check IMO.

James, although he has good measurables and athletic talent he would project as a 3 and is severely lacking with his handle and being able to create his own shot or shots for others. Plus he has yet to even prove to be a consistantly good shooter against good competition.

Sophmores:
Fab is a sure thing at his size as long as he continues to improve ans stays healthy. Stiffs like Arron Grey are still collecting NBA checks because they are 7' tall.

Dion has NBA talent and I believe he has the unwaivering belief in his own ability that he will get paid by the NBA at some point.

CJ is a possibility but with his frame he would need to improve his skills IMO and become a 2/3 type of guy in the NBA. He has good skills but not great. He has good athletic ability and size but not great. But he also has a knack for the game that can't be taught so I won't count him out.

Baye has a great combination of length, speed and energy. Does that out weigh the lack of bulk and strength that his oponents will have at the 4 and 5 in the NBA? If he were to develop an ofensive game that would force NBA bigs to guard him well away from the basket then I think the answer would be yes, if not then no.

Freshman:
Rak has the physical tools and size to plat the 4 in the NBA. He does not have the skills as of yet. hard to say if he will develop them. But I feel he has a good chance to dominate enough in college to get an NBA paycheck at least for one cycle.

MCW has the size and skills that NBA scouts will love. He is more athletic than I think we give him credit for. As long as he continues to develop I think he will be an NBA player.

Trevor is red-shirting but if he shoots well enough he could be in the NBA Andy made himself into a 2nd round pick based off of shooting ability and being about the same size.

Remember that the NBA has the pick of the picks of all players everywhere. They can always find physically gifted players with great measurable, ALWAYS.

Don't forget the guys on our 3rd unit. They could finish top 3 in any other conference in America..

Drafted-
Fab.
Dion- maybe after this year, definitely after next year.
Joseph.
Fair- Def if he stays 4 years.
MCW- needs 2 or 3 years.
Xmas- needs 2 years.

Get a shot-
JSouth- The stroke is too good. The handle will probably cost him.
BMK- He's tall, and a good shot blocker.

Overseas-
Triche
Jardine.

Xmas was the #1 rated center (by some) in last years class, that plus a couple years at a major college will almost guarantee a shot at the very least.

Sophmores:

I agree with you on almost every SU player, jordoo. I think people see Grey as a goofy big white guy in the NBA and forget just how damn good he was at Pitt. He was dominant. He average a double-double as a jr. I think Fab can be that good as a junior, at least I hope.

No doubt about Grey but athletically and NBA wise he's a stiff. he dominated in college because he had good footwork to go with his great size and he had been playing bball his whole life. Fab has the same size and far superior phsical gifts as far as athletic ability goes. The difference is Fab still has basically no idea how to play bball since its a very new sport to him. Fab is just scratching the surface IMO.

BMK could get drafted as a defensive specialist.

I agree that scoop might not be talented enough but he could be servicable. Triche with two solid years (better then his 1st two) could lead him a spot esp is he's a starting guard and plays well on a champion team.

I don't understand how you guys knock Joseph? He could of left last year and went at worst in the 2nd like his younger brother.

Also worth noting most mock drafts has Xmas going in the lottery.

Waiters has the skills and drive tht would land him a spot.
MCW is just gifted.

Its not a knock on Joseph, its just really really hard to make the NBA. Unfortunitally for college players the bigger the sample size the easier it is to see why they would be passed over for other players that still have big upside. The fact is that Joseph had more upside as a sophmore than he does now as a senior coming off knee surgery. He proved that he could shoot last season but failed to prove he could integrate that with his ability to be explosive going to the hoop. In fact if anything he failed to show he could be a play maker when the defense keyed on him. Yes he can hit open jumpers, yes , when healthy, he can attack the rim in transition. Can he create shots for himself? Can he use his shooting ability to get closer to the basket and get easy shots for himself and others? Is his handle really that good? Is he really as bad in m2m defense as he looks when we play it at the beginning of every season?
To get drafted in the NBA you have to be better than the guys playing your position that are currently in the NBA or projected to be good enough to replace those guys or do one thing supremely better than 95% of all other college players. Its really that hard to make the NBA because of all the established players and all the competition to simply get a look world wide.

If E'twaun moore can get drafted then Dion can definitely get drafted

Drafted- MCW, Fab, Rak, Dion, maybe CJ
Invited to camp: KJ
Who will stick?- I'll go with the pundits- Rak and MCW. I can see Dion as a Vinny Johnson type.
I love Triche and keep waiting for that next level- if it happens I'd think he'd get there...but it doesn't seem to be happening. Love Scoop but he's just a step slow, not quite good enough shooter, etc.

Question- who is so good at any one thing that they are assured of being drafted? Right now- no one.

Yes, my favorite thread of the year!!

I think I called for this one a few weeks back.

I would be stunned stunned stunned if it's 10. Half that would be a nice accomplishment.

Another way to look at it; have we had 10 NBA players in the last decade?

I think we have a lot of folks in here who only watch SU games...... I'm not sayin..I'm just...
