Recruiting 2023-2025

Ty Xanders has rated a lot of the other 2025s as 4-stars or 3-stars:

It looks like about 125 4-stars, after 19 5-stars

Thanks. Christian Hogan from Culver is a four star (Originally from Auburn, NY I think), and Charlie "Little Laser" Lockwood is listed as a three star. Lockwood still listed as going to Lawrenceville. No ranking for Bartlow yet.

Yes.. Hogan is an Auburn kid.. would like to get both those kids!!!

Per Twitter, all four stars -

Asher Ziv, Pingry (NJ), M - Yale
Quinn Kelly, CBA (NJ), D - Harvard
Garr Long, Thayer (MA), G - Brown

The Ivys and Navy seem to be moving fast. I wonder if it’s about the players making sure they apply/get accepted asap so they can find a back up, if they don’t?

Some other names that pop out from this list of new four stars. Some like Kittelberger and Reynolds have been mentioned before. I essentially looked at any player who might have connections to the greater CNY lacrosse landscape, or any Canadians -

Vincent Gaylord, FO, Avon Old Farms but plays for Orange Crush. Looks like he played for Albany Academy. 82% faceoff winning percentage and 27 points last year.

Parker Reynolds, M, Salisbury, from Manilus, NY.

Braydon Pike, M, Hilton, NY

Finley Watson, A, Salisbury from Ontario

Alex Bauer, M, Cold Spring Harbor, Team 91, from Odierna's high school, also club connection to Spallina.

Jayden Kittelberger, SSDM, Salisbury, originally from Rochester

Dillon Licht, M, Nisky, NY

Anthony Rodriguez, A, Loomis Chaffe, I think from Spencerport, plays for 3d Upstate

Parker Sorensen, D, Culver, from British Columbia

Treysen Stewart, A/M, Culver from Ontario

Alex Swinnie, FO, Lawrenceville, originally went to Albany Academy

Luke Danna, M, Orchard Park, NY but plays club in Florida?

I guess with the Ivies and Navy, there are no athletic scholarships to consider.

Well anyone got any news on the recruitment front they wanna share with me in DM?

Much appreciated.

Relatively quiet right now, pretty much is across the board. Give it another 1-2 weeks, things will break open. Lot of the big schools being ultra selective as this class isn't considered overly strong.

Are the top players not as good as in years past? Or are there not as many at that elite level? Or both?

There often seems to be a bit of a domino effect to this with the top schools waiting on top recruits' decisions.

We did have a run on the face-off men with the top 3 going rather quickly

Great question. It looks like Navy has five commits, Cornell has four, Harvard with three, Princeton and Yale with two each and Brown and Dartmouth with one each, as of this moment. Air Force (5), UNC (2) and Notre Dame (2) are the only other schools with more than one commit.

With Navy and the other military academies, they have additional time to secure commitments (7/1) so not really a surprised they've gotten multiple recruits. Plus, the military academies are such a unique experience, kids probably know pretty early on if that's where they are headed. I guess the bigger question is why does Army only have one commit?

With the Ivy Leagues, maybe I've seen too many teen dramadies in my life, but those kids might be a little more driven to attend a particular school? I'm sure every case is different, it's pure speculation on my part. You might also be correct about the application process.

In Xander's recent, "Anonymous Scouting Report" a week before 9/1, I was struck by this quote from a coach - "It’s not a very high academic class, and there are some positions where some schools like us are even more limited than usual at shallow and top-heavy positional groups because of the lack of grades.” I am assuming this means Ivy League standard types - and wondering if that means the kids with the grades are being pursued more heavily? Again, just guessing on my part.
