Can somebody explain why we're recruiting better w/o Swag Daddy and TW? So far, this class is looking much better than the last one. Was it the Bowl appearance?

Could be a mix of some dawgs on the staff plus the deemphasis on 3 star prospects in favor of transfers at the top 50 schools

Nunzio is supposedly a grinder on the recruiting trail.

I'm sure Beck comes across better than Anae.

Johnson seems to be involved with quite a few kids.

New facilities definitely help

Winning season with another season where we should go bowling helps

It's a variety of things.

Your next to last point is big, bowl season is huge. Now we just can’t pull a 2019 and blow the momentum, and I do not believe that will happen.

Agree with both of you. I think it is a much more compelling message to point to a track record of success, instead of trying to convince recruits / transfers that you're on the cusp and they can help put the team over the top.

I'm guessing that the coaching staff is selling bowl, and the likelihood that we're going back to a bowl this year, with a stocked QB room -- so the future looks even brighter. They're probably also touting pulling in transfers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Nebraska, South Carolina, etc. as evidence that the team is going to be stronger in 2023. And I'm sure they're pointing to Bergeron being a 2nd rounder and the program placing several players in the NFL draft the past couple of years.

All of which highlights the importance of getting to bowls [irrespective of bowl outcome], having winning records, and a trend of positive program performance.

Winning begats winning. And winning translates into better recruiting.

The myth and the legend of Monroe exceeded the results imo
Ehhhhh I definitely wouldn’t say that. He recruited some studs and was by far our best recruiter when he was on staff.

Don’t forget what our secondary looked like before Monroe got here with a bunch of smurfs not touching the NFL. Monroe gets here and puts Cisco, Trill, Iffy, Williams in the NFL. Lands good secondary players on the team now in Johnson, Clark, Barron, etc…I think he was thought of highly rightfully so. But I get where you are coming from because it has been a really strong start to the recruiting class. And I think by the end of the week we could have a top 45/40 class over at the all day site

Yeah. The difference is many more of our most important players return.

Dino was on the hot seat that was a major negative

This is major. The perception of being on the hot seat is poison to recruiting mojo

What makes you say this?
Which part? if you mean the recruits, it seems we are recently getting some guys with better offer lists than last year with more possibly to come. Though I liked a few guys in last year's class, I wasn't a big fan of it as a whole.

Oh, okay. Yeah, I was wondering about the recruits. It’s good that the few we have generally have better offers. We’re still ranked 13th in the ACC though. I know that’s because of absolute numbers at this point, but I doubt our position dramatically changes. It seems we’re always at the bottom. We’ve had some very good players, but Dino has yet to really pull off a big recruiting win in eight years. Even a blind squirrel does that every now and then. I’m particularly concerned when we lose NE kids to Minnesota, Wake Forest, etc. We also continually lose recruits to Rutgers which baffles the mind. Anyway, I’m in wait and see on this class, but it’s okay to be enthusiastic about a couple of the kids we’ve already landed.

I'm not saying it's a top 20 class-Just that it seems more promising than the previous class at this point.
