The Bills are the new Raiders.

When does Ray Rice get a contract?

Do they even tell Whaley or does he read about it on Twitter like the rest of us

Love it! Bills got the guy that knocked out cry baby Geno Smith!! I'm sure he's not the first teammate of Geno's that's wanted to do that!

Also Bills definitely could use some LB depth. If Rex likes his skills then I'm all in.

Rex should be cracking up that he gets to face gailey and fitz again but it ain't enough

They should double down and sign Alden Smith.

Rex Ryan "We're going to build a bully"
So it makes sense the Bills would pick this bully up. Gotta love Rex.

I do love Rex, he is so entertaining. Honey moon will continue or end very quickly though.

At least he's not like the rest of these D-BAGS, robots

Does Rex sign players or does the GM?
Ray Rice should get a deal. All indications are that it was an isolated incident. He has paid his criminal price, his NFL price, has successfully engaged in counseling and his wife has forgiven him and moved on.

Not much of an NFL fan, but I'm genuinely curious:

In the Justin Pugh fight thread the other day, the general sentiment seemed to be that it's OK for football teammates to fight during summer camp.

So this kid got a little unlucky and broke Geno Smith's face while participating in what seems to be general accepted behavior.

If he's talented, why shouldn't the Bills sign him?

We signed Buchanon, a LB the Pats fans were high on and Enkempali, a LB the Jets fans were labeling as their "breakout player". Let's hope the fans are right because Lawson-Brown-Bradham is a very good LB unit but behind them there wasn't much depth...if these guys pan out...whoa!

Jags fans are always picking on the Bills. Don't expect it to stop.

@Jiillyy: Marcell Dareus told @MikeSilver that everyone celebrated a little harder when Doug Marrone opted out on New Years Eve loll #BillsMafia

Yea, more and more we're seeing how disliked and dysfunctional Marrone's coaching and leadership was. The offensive line comments about how they were screamed at behind locked doors and over-coached so much that no one knew what they were supposed to be doing were damning.

You'd think Doug had spent enough time in the NFL to know that the players deserve to be treated like professionals. This ties in nicely with the except on Deadspin about the new Saban book.

That's a good line but here's apparently how it went down...

During a staff meeting Tuesday night, after Enemkpali appeared on the waiver wire the Bills received around 5 p.m., GM Doug Whaley asked Ryan what he thought of the player he coached during his final season in New York.

“All he does is shut his mouth and work,” Ryan told Whaley. “I’ll stand on the table for the guy.”

“Coach, if you say that, if you believe in him like that,” Whaley replied, “I got your back.”

Twenty-four hours later, Enemkpali was a Buffalo Bill.

At the Tuesday night staff meeting, Ryan told the room what he knew. Before putting the waiver claim in on Wednesday, Whaley called Bills owner Terry Pegula. He explained the story to Pegula, and how Ryan said Enemkpali wasn’t any trouble when he had him in New York last year.

“If Rex believes in him,” Pegula told Whaley, “I support him.”

That’s Pegula’s management style, according to Whaley. When they have a strong opinion about somebody, he never says no. And Ryan, for more than one reason, made a strong case for Enemkpali.

Guy sounds like a real arsehole to work for! :)

I don't know this guy well, but he seems like a tool. Am I way off here?

Me or Whaley? Answers are "don't be silly of course not" and "yeah kinda", respectively

Since being promoted to GM in 2013 Whaley has made some head-scratching decisions that nearly cost him his job but he also shares a good portion of responsibility for putting together one of the best rosters in the league so I guess it's yet to be determined.

I think Ryan's attitude will appeal to blue collar fans in Buffalo.
