I spent a night in Chattanooga and two nights in Nashville. Granted, I was on a Civil War trip, but I liked Chattanooga better.
Nashville is growing so fast, it is becoming another Austin...that isn't a good thing. Chattanooga would be my choice too.

Believe first $20,000 each year of pension and/or tax deferred withdrawals are not taxed in NYS.
This is correct. However, if you are a teacher or NYS employee then your pension is 100% NYS tax free.

I listened to the full segment on that Podcast. The guy said he has a source who told him that Rocky feels that he has taken SDSU to the highest level possible in the Mountain West and is looking to either retire or take a nice paying DC role at a P5 program. He referenced Junior Seau a long time ago saying that he was going to retire but then wound up signing with the Patriots a couple weeks later

They did talk about SU for a little bit and said that even though they feel SU is a middle of the pack ACC program at best, SU can still offer more to Rocky than SDSU can

I thought Chattanooga had a nice laid back downtown. I ate at a place called Sticky Fingers BBQ. It was pretty good.

The big negative is crime is pretty bad.

I would look at Jackson TN (1.5 hr to Memphis, 2 hr to Nashville) or Franklin TN (45 min south of Nashville). Both very nice small towns, nice peeps.

I would love to live somewhere in the Colorado/Utah area but I’m 10+ yrs in with NYS retirement and my job the drop off in pay almost anywhere else is just too great. I’m stuck here unfortunately.

OT... but is that per person in a couple? Or combined? Do they need to be separate accounts?

I loved Nashville and I love Tennessee. Definitely a place on my retirement radar.

I was on the top of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga a few years ago and there's a lacrosse goal in somebody's backyard up there. I couldn't believe it.

There are a couple of guys who I went to high school with who have a lacrosse school (camp, business, something, I'm not sure) in Kennesaw, GA north of Atlanta. One played for SU. That's probably about an hour or so south of Chattanooga.

That's not good. If he was leaving he'd have the presser. Since it seems to be the school, maybe they are announcing major facility upgrades which is one this Long has been unhappy about. We'll see.

If we want Long and if he wants us, I'm of the opinion that it will be as DC/Asst HC which will allow for more money.

Lustig is already the Asst. HC.
