I don’t think so, only because the AD then had to put out a statement that essentially said, “all’s well, Rocky’s still our coach, he visits other programs all the time, so please don’t read into that.”

Then 24-36 hours later, he’s leading a presser that retires Rocky and hires Hoke.

Executives of that ilk don’t often paint themselves as flying blind or out of the loop, ... well unless they are talking to the NCAA, the FBI or Congress. Right?

This would again push the needle towards Long since Dino wouldn't have someone then dump them because someone better came along. My guess is he was in Syracuse Monday to dot some i;s and cross some ts. But then again I picked Syracuse to go 10-2 last fall so thats how much I know.

Makes a lot of sense no one has the DC job open right now.

Unfortunately I can’t see something good like this happening to us. I bet we lose him over a few bucks or a coach comes in late offering him a co DC position where he’s really the DC because they are lukewarm on their current DC.

Things like this don’t happen to us we get the George McDonalds of the world.

It is a very interesting possibility especially given Coach Long's age. On the other hand he's already a DC so why give that up ? What if instead Arnett is our DC and Long takes the CB position and recruits ? Guy is set financially and it would be even less work and stress for him:

"The most fun I ever had coaching is when I was coaching the DBs and the secondary and coaching"

I hope so. I hope this isn’t a long shot or that we’re waiting too long to find out. This has already felt like an emotional drive down a rocky road.
