Scoop and Brandon are killing us.

I recognize that part of the fun of discussing sports is to dissect the game and even suggest different approaches.

Furthermore, I understand the frustration of watching something that appears to be not working. I was screaming at the TV on Saturday to "get Scoop and Triche out of there"!

But suggesting that you --- albeit undefeated coaching D1 games --- have the answer and that JB doesn 't seems to me to be "nuts". You can't possibly take yourself that seriously.
First off... I never take myself too seriously. 2nd, I have never called any of our players "." Third, I'm sick of pointing out the differences between the chat room and the board. Do away with the chat room and the board becomes the stream-of-consciousness place that the chat room is intended to be.

Can you please link up a post that you were personally offended by?
Please. I said some posts were over the top in how the posters presented their opinions. Surely you've seen the posts that directly attack certain players and coaches and offer nothing of substance. Or maybe you've just never seen one of those. Anyway, I'm not here to list names or link specific posts. That wasn't my point.

see, this is what happens to people who listen to the devil music of Black Sabbath. ;)

All of this back-and-forth gets at something I have felt about this particular SU team.

This is a very difficult SU team to be a fan of. When they are clicking they are unstoppable as they were early in the season. And that's what we want and expect ... the dominating SU team that we have seen.

But they have glaring weaknesses both as a team and as individual players. The decision-making and play of Triche and Scoop are at the top of that list. But at the same time these guys have been tremendous in games or parts of games. Rak is great, except when he isn't. And so on.

So all of this arguing is caused by the ebbs and flows of this flawed piece of machinery.

Triche and Scoop combined make more mistakes and bone-headed plays in a half of basketball than Sherman Douglas did in his entire SU career.

I think I saw Dion make a bad play once. But I may have been hallucinating after spending too much time on this board.

Furthermore, Scoop and Brandon were hand picked among the best players in the country to play at Syracuse. So it can only be described as delusional when middle aged, no athletic bone in their body, men say some of the best players in the country suck. Especially when they probably have no idea what its like to play against guys that are 6'3'' and can throw it down with ease. I know 6'7'' guys who dont dunk like that. Its a different game, and unless you've played against it, its probably funny seeing the posts and the lack of respect people show towards he players on a 33-2 team.

Michael Edwards was hand picked too. :) So was Sean Williams. :)

Not to knock your post, but you realize there are coaches at every level that never played beyond high school, no? I doubt Rick Majerus teared it up beyond high school (sorry, Rick - maybe you did!) Not sure you can just dismiss everything a person has to say because they never played against someone 6'3" that can dunk.

It's an internet message board...and other than some posts about Fab that I thought were out of line...I see nothing wrong in suggesting some players aren't playing well or suggesting a diff strategy than JB or different rotation. To some..it's part of being a fan and to some...it's part of the fun.

Congratualtions on the statement, " I keep hearing MCW couldn't be any worse. First off, yes he could, what you are saying is you don't think he would be worse. Second, what if it takes Scoop time to size up the competition, to understand what works against the player defending him. If you take Scoop out couldn't you be delaying the time it takes Scoop to figure it out?"

I think I posted it earlier in the thread, but Scoop pretty much said that in his post-game (on-court) interview. They were pressing him hard, he was struggling to make plays against the pressure, but he figured it out and had a great second half.

This is a good point. This board is where the hardcore fans talk about the team. Its unfiltered during and right after games. Emotions run high. It's like being in a bar watching with your friends. Except here, half the people are looking to take your ass down, act superior, and throw stuff in your face. Just accept it; people vent during games - we are all way too interested in this stuff for our own good anyway or we wouldn't be here.

Good, well-reasoned post.

Swish, IMO some (not all) of the negative posts on the main board are so over the top and presented so offensively that they're hard to ignore. Those posts are fair game for being called out. And when someone does take issue with one of those posts it doesn't automatically make them a "Pollyanna" and it isn't an attempt to create an environment where certain opinions are censored. But if you're truly comfortable with everything you read on this board, I guess we just have different standards for what is appropriate. Peace.

I agree mostly. Incessant uninformed negativity is not fun.

What I disagree with, or don't like are the posts which complain about the negativity without a direct response to a negative post. These are free standing whoa is the board soap boxes. If someone does not say who they are complaining about it is easy too assume they are complaining about you.

And I swear people like blue curtain are called out more often than they post. It's like my wife bringing up an argument five years after we settled it

In general it feels like a zoning inspector showing up on a sunny afternoon to measure your lawn and fine you for your grass being a centimeter too high.

People trying to stamp out the negativity churn up a lot if it themselves.

You make a lot of good points. "Incessant uninformed negativity is not fun" indeed.

Maybe I'm wrong, but my sense is that most people do respond directly when they have an issue with something they see on here. There's no reason not to do so. The problem is that when you respond to one of these negative posts, the negative poster often digs in their heels and the thread quickly deteriorates. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

As for posters like BlueCurtain, they are special cases and IMO have earned the derision directed at them (and might actually welcome it for all I know). I'm not going to lose sleep worrying about how they get treated.

Finally, personally I wouldn't care if someone was indirectly complaining about my posts because this stuff isn't really that important in the end. And if I really had to know I would just ask them.
