$$$ will be a problem now because with a flushed out roster, that means you have already spent a good chunk of your funds, which means you can easily be outbid. So there are positives and negatives of doing it this way.

I guess it all comes down to how efficient we have been.

Doty and Mahmutovic will probably share the SF spot. Anthony doesn't rebound or defend well enough to play against a bigger guy, IMO.

I think it’s pretty clear we are going with a 3 guard line up. I like Dual but I hope he’s not the starter at PG. He’d be a really good back up PG and play some SG too.

Still think/hope we add Folefac. Obviously still need to add a starting center. Ideally need a starting point guard too. But in terms of depth and players we added so far, I’m pleased. Tobiason is a scorer for sure. Doty is really good all around and will be a fan favorite. Sadiq was hugeeeee to retain and I think he’ll take an even bigger step forward this season in G-macs system. Obviously we know Kiyan, his background and the resources he has. So I expect a jump from him this off season as well. If we add Folefac, a good starting center and a good start PG. Probably add another forward other than a starting center and Folefac too. Really like adding MMM as an international prospect and equivalent to a Mickey D’s all American per scouts. That’s a talented, versatile roster.

I won't go into it on this thread, but there's no chance White is under 1 million. It has been said by multiple insiders that he got a "substantial" raise to stay.

But that’s relative to what he got last year, and we know that Donnie was way underpaid compared to Nait G according to other recent posts. Like maybe Dry Rub level, so maybe just less than $1M? Sadiq could have made $300k last year, which means if he moved up to $800k (for example) that is a substantial raise.

They mostly have huge wingspans though. The defense can be elite with this guy, Doty, and Dual. Kiyan is going to have to improve big time to see the court.

They will make Kiyan better (for when more playing time becomes available his junior year).

Kinda weird, all the 2Gs, but I have the most confidence in this one.

I think it is good having a bunch of shooters.This has been a recent trend and we’ve been hurt by teams that can spread the floor with 3 or more knockdown shooters. This should help open up the middle for White and hopefully an offensive big (that we’ve yet to get).

I just said in this post I don't think Anthony is good enough defensively to play forward.

I said the Siena kid is probably not good enough defensively to be the starter at Center.

And I recognize that Doty is a hardworking guy who is going to be pretty good on D, which is why I think he spots in at the 3 rather than the 2.

I also recognize that Dual is very good defensively. I see that him and Tobiason would give us excellent defense at the guard.

But I also said that Dual isn't good enough to be the starter. Especially because he's under 70% from the foul line over the last 3 years.

Defense is important, but I've said many times now, we need 2-way players.

Edelin was a throwback even then. He was not the typical PG even of that time. His game was old school, such as his backdown, post-up game, his baby hooks and floaters in the lane. His handle and ball protection were lethal. He wasn’t lighting fast, but didn’t need to be. His game IQ was off the charts, and his 6-4 frame made him tough to defend. He could do it all. He didn’t bang threes, but he didn’t need to. He could create for himself and others at will. Stat sheet stuffer. He led his Oak Hill team to the mythical HS national title in 2001 before coming to SU. It’s a shame that he never had a full season in any of his years on the hill.

Edelin was excellent, but those 2004 and 2005 teams struggled when he and Pace were on the floor at the same time because GMAC was the only guy that needed to be guarded beyond 15 feet. I actually thought the offense improved in both of those seasons after Edelin exited. It's not his fault, it was just unfortunate roster construction.

That's okay, i guess. But, i think there's still usefulness in actual size, not just wingspans.

They both have positional size. The wingspan amplifies that size.

If you are referring to the rest of the roster, I think that size is coming.

Looking at Dual's stats from last year and comparing to JJ and Nait, he was better than both of them from 3, better than both from 2, and closer to Nait than he was to JJ from the free throw line. I think you may be a little jaded by the regression our guards made the last two years. If you look at Siena, Gerry's players got better, not worse. If he can translate that same coaching success to Syracuse, we'll be fine.

Really? Malachi was pretty solid as a scorer considering he was a freshman.

He shot 37% from the field including 39% on 2's. 51% TS%. He was horribly inefficient; just took a lot of shots.
