I think the point about "The assumption that he's headed to Syracuse has likely impacted the amount of programs expressing interest" is very valid. Fran McCaffery's kid experienced the same thing - and he ultimately did end up at Iowa - so the other programs were right for not wasting their time.

It's a huge thing.
Talking with an SU soccer assistant, he said when schools find out that SU is looking at a kid, they just back off. That's soccer. Imagine a school like LaFayette, Seton Hall, etc. Why waste their time, unless Buddy says he is going non-SU.
The fact that other schools might be backing off due to perceived SU interest tells me the kid can play at the ACC level.
