Class of 2017 SG/SF Jordan Tucker (NY / GA) Leaving Duke to Butler

Didn't mean to discredit ga tech by what I said..eastcoast2 said it pretty good I think is what I meant by what I said...they are a good program and I know we have been in a regular season slump but I still would like to think we would be a more desirable school of choice for most kids...i would like to think we have a better history and are more of a elite school for basketball purposes then tech is..im not saying we are the Kentucky's of the basketball world but I certainly think of su being superior to tech...and I'm not trying to discredit them and I think pastner is s great up and coming coach but that still doesn't change my opinion. I would like to think that when a 18 year old kid gets a chance to play at a school like cuse vs ga tech that there is a little more excitement leaning towards the idea of playing for cuse...we do a pretty good job of getting under rated kids in the league and we definitely have a bigger platform and better fan following as well as a HOF coach to play for. But that's obviously pretty opinionated but hey that's just how I feel...i think we are one of the better basketball programs in the country and I certainly feel like we have a edge over the likes of ga tech. And he definitely has a chance at better playing time with us versus oregon because of who they have coming in. If he wants to shine and get tons of publicity and play in the acc and be one of our main offensive weapons then we are the best option for him to showcase his talents.

We became the favorite for this kid the Friday after Hopkins left. We need a better visit this time. If this kid commits it will be the work of Jim Boeheim being more involved in recruiting. It is not any of the assistants for this kid its a JB job.
Did I miss something? What does the first line mean?

Just to play devil's advocate here...He spent his last year in Atlanta metro so he is familiar with that area and probably the GA Tech program/coaching staff.

Pastner is a very good basketball coach.

GA Tech basketball was really good in late 80's/early 90's under Cremins so to discount their history and ask who is Ga Tech in basketball is a bad idea.

How do you know he is more likely to get minutes at Syracuse than at Oregon as a freshman?

PS-I do hope we land him but not sure why you are discounting GA Tech so much...

This kid was born in, what...1999? Think about things that happened 10 years before you were even born. It feels like ancient history. 10 years before I was born Pennsylvania, Long Beach State, and Louisiana-Lafayette all finished in the AP top 10. I would've had absolutely no idea about that if I didn't just google it.

might depend on if he's dead set on visiting Oregon or not

Oregon already has a 4* SF signed, and also a 3* SF.
And (assuming he returns) a rising Jr SF who has averaged 30 mpg / 13 ppg the past 2 seasons.

Meanwhile, as of now -
SU has the shrug emoji guy starting at the 3 for next year.
:noidea:

In fairness, those are pretty obscure facts. You wouldn't have to google the big stuff that happened in the 10 years before you were born. Like Grover Cleveland winning the popular vote in the three previous presidential elections.

I get it to an extent. My response was more in line with the poster who asked who is GA Tech as I was reminding him that GA Tech once had a very good program and has a good coach. People would be wise not to underestimate them.

Take a look at the posters on the football recruiting board as they reference our rich history on everything, since we don't have a very good recent history.

oh no doubt - just that some kids take their visits no matter what even if they're decided

They have Dillon Brooks, if he returns, a 5-star McD's AA coming in and another 4-star SF coming in. They also have a freshman 3-star that saw time this year. It's literally packed at that position at Oregon.

Must be nice. I listed the players below that he would have to compete against for playing time at Syracuse.

I did reply to your post, I didn't mean to discredit ga tech or down grade them..however my opinion is that we are more of a elite school when it comes to basketball and more relevant. They are a decent program and have a good history but I don't think it's like ours. Again this is just my opinion but tech is not cuse when it comes to basketball. They do have a great up and coming coach and program and we seem to be on a bit of a slide (mostly regular season) but I would like to think that 18 year old kids think more of and are more excited to possibly play for syracuse vs playing for ga tech. Didn't mean to make it seem like I was crapping on them or pastner...they were tremendous this year and are a program on the rise but I think we are the better basketball program. And I don't think that is even debatable

I don't know why Pastner is on the rise. He had a good year getting a team that wasn't very good to being 500 in a tough league. Every year they were more removed from Paypal Cal they got worse at Memphis in my opinion. I would have to look up their record but every year the team in general looked worse to me.

It means that was the day JB flew down to GA with GMac and met him and his coaches. It gave Tucker the love and idea that SU was seriously interested in him after cooling off last summer.
This kid commitment would be JB getting it done and he hasn't done this much leg work in recruiting for a little while.
