So when do Emily and Axe do a honest assessment

Instead of focusing on the perception of instability and weakness

All the sky is falling takes are the perspective of a child
It will be interesting to see if they are big enough to apologize for their once again horribly misread and completely incompetent reporting and analysis on Syracuse football. Emily is new and taking cues from Axe, who must take more of the responsibility here.

If both shave their heads and wear a burlap bag for a year, I will forgive them.

I think this column/take on staff changes would have been more beneficial to write once the staff was settled and it could be a fair comparison.

It's looking likely that Dino will have as good a staff in 2023 as he did last season. Writing now about it is mis-timed IMO.

When you don't have any competitors in your market, you can do what you want. At least before with the P-S, you had other writers on the staff to play the yin to his yang. Now all you have is bad cop.

Axe is an opinion writer, not a beat writer. He's not supposed to be a facts guy. Whether he's good at it or not is not a conversation I'm interested in.

Emily is a solid beat writer. I don't see where the "negativity" thing comes in.
Not taking Emily completely off the hook but in fairness the titles, which are often sensationalist, are added/influenced by the "editors".

How is Brent axe still employed he’s terrible. He’s such a terrible ambassador for the program. Is he through the post standard or a different media outlet?

It’s weird, neither of them really press Dino face to face in press conferences but they’re all doom and gloom now. Really can’t figure them out.

They’re weak. At least have the fortitude to ask the tough questions. But lobbing in softballs only to then be tougher when nobody’s watching isn’t doing a good job either.

I don’t know how Syracuse.com works, but historically, reporters don’t write their own headlines. I can say from experience it’s a wildly different skill set.
Unfortunately not many editors employed anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised if they write / suggest their own now. It’s fairly common as editorial staffs have been gutted.

It is in no way his job to be a ambassador for the program. He doesn't work for the school or the football program.
his job is to get eyeballs on his stuff though.. do doom and gloom and negative stories get more views or promoting the team in ways that might actually help the program and attendance and make them more popular
