If you have any theories to explain how a basketball player recruited to play at a storied program in a P5 conference becomes so tentative about shooting an open jump shot they can't hit one I'm all ears. I can't remember which game it was but Marek caught the ball near the FT line, his defender backed off and invited him to shoot, and he looked back at the bench, shook his head and passed right back to Battle or Howard on the perimeter.
The only other explanation I can think of is we just keep recruiting guys who are wildly overrated by scouts. Just bad luck I guess! It's funny how when we actually have a "bench" people here defend the penalty box/short bench philosophy because the guys on the bench are "just aren't ready to play." Afterall, Boeheim sees them in practice! He knows! So we end up with guys that are apparently so bad they can't be trusted to get a few minutes of play when we're up 10 in the second half against Buffalo or when someone is gassed and struggling.
