sorry but coaching is a problem

But just being on the court is only half of it. He's probably tentative because he thinks (and not without reason) if he misses a shot he's instantly going to get the hook and watch Moyer play the rest of the game. Or at least until Moyer misses a shot and needs to get yelled at.

He’s probably tentative because he knows he’s not that good of a shooter yet.

In other words, the best players play the most. Just like any where else. “Favorites”.., jeez. Could you act like any more of a busybody soccer mom?
Strange that our guys always dominate the minutes per game stats if it's the same as anywhere else.

So what though?

Are we really posting about not developing a bench in a year where we have 6 healthy(sometimes 7) players?

Are we really posting about guys not developing when one of our guys was 2nd for most improved player in the ACC?

I’m a macro guy...are we really bashing the coaching in a year where the team met or slightly exceeded pretty much everyone’s expectations?

not one single vote in the polls all season long means your HC is gonna catch heat. deal.
"sure we sucked but not as bad as some other teams sucked " is a pretty weak performance defense. let's win a couple ACCT games and somehow squeeze into the big dance.

Now you’re moving the goalposts to fit your narrative.

Early departures need to be stricken from the excuse list. Everyone deals with this.

Shouldn't defections lay at the feet of the coach? He recruited dudes who bounced on us.

Sanctions, ok - fair enough. Same with injuries.

In fairness, the schools that generally deal with this know the guy is gone after a year before they show up to campus. Minus CMAC (who wasn't very good) the other 3 or 4 clearly weren't in the one or two and done camp.

Duke 2-3 getting shredded by UNC so they go to a 1-3-1 token press before falling back to the 2-3 and gives UNC fits.

Would be super cool if we realized there's more you can do on defense besides the 2-3 zone and desperation press.

Lol, well stated. While I realize that when played well with the IDEAL personnel; meaning long, tall, and intelligent players, the zone is tough to play against. That said, teams have adjusted and gotten to know it over the years. Imagine if NFL or hell, even college FB defenses came out in a 3 deep every play where you knew where every player was lining up as an offense? Yes , i get it, a bit different, but...makes ya think...

You’re right. Autry should be getting 10-15 minutes per game. I don’t know what JB is thinking.

Not sure I follow Long Island's post. We slapped the press on UNC and got to a tied game. They only score again because we turned it over, our defense was stopping them.

if opinions backed up by hard statistics is trolling i plead guilty on all counts your honor.

ACC teams have gotten to know it, just like Big East teams got to know it. The zone is more effective against non-conference opponents.

I agree wholeheartedly. Give that man a full deck and he knows how to play those cards. The game has not passed him by. Syracuse is a great team, but they are not Duke, UNC, Kansas, or Kentucky. Syracuse cannot weather defections, early departures, sanctions, and major injuries as well as these true Blue Bloods. Duke can almost lose an entire team and rebuild with 5 stars the next year. This is the state of College Basketball right now. Syracuse almost has to get a little lucky to have a full complement of competent players. When they do, I'd rather have Jim Boeheim over any coach in the country. Believe me now, and hear me later! Go Cuse!

Yes, he doesnt have a full deck of cards to play with , but give him the full deck and watch out well, who does have a full deck to play with? Yes, there are some programs that do, have been lucky with injuries and have depth. You know what fellas, that is a function of the HC too. Yes, this is a knock on his recruiting AND ability to develop players and trust more than 7 guys that he allows to dress.

A better coach would better protect his guys from torn ACL’s and knee tendinitis.

You’re blaming the coach for injuries? FFS.

I don't think that is accurate. JB has stated on the record multiple times that he wants Dolezaj to shoot more. He just doesn't want him launching shots from much beyond 15 feet at this point.

In addition, Dolezaj’s tentativeness shows up more in road games. That has nothing to do with quick hooks.

We still lost and still only threw the only two defenses we ever play against them.

A 1-3-1 token press requires minimal energy so it is something we could employ on a short rotation. It was a great coaching move by K...one that we seem incapable of doing anymore.

And he would have played an unhealthy, impatient grad transfer big minutes to keep him happy.
