Woolley is only a freshman. Kid can play.Buffalo…MAC champs AGAIN!!! But remember, she had a couple bad years at IU so that disqualifies her. Do people know it’s possible to evolve as a coach?
Also bonus: Dyaisha Fair will look great in Orange next year
She was sooo clutch todayWoolley is only a freshman. Kid can play.
Most Head coaches were assistants at one point..oh, and even took over an ACC team and made them a powerhouse, Jeff Walz. Kara Lawson never coached at any college level before being named Duke HC.I would hope that SU hires someone who has HC experience and not just an assistant coach with ACC experience.
Most HCs were assistants at one point but I would prefer that we aren't the first step in an assistant's rise to head coach. And looking at the school's history in hiring all the current hires for the women's sports were head coaches at their prior school. Most Head coaches were assistants at one point..oh, and even took over an ACC team and made them a powerhouse, Jeff Walz. We were a program on the rise but we weren't a powerhouse so it is going to take a few years to rebuild. The portal will help but don't think it will be as active as last year. Probably 2 yrs away to attract top recruits again.
Brooke Wyckoff would be a solid choice, also like the Md asst Karen Blair. Chelsea Lyles FGCU is an asst that is worthy of a HC job. There are others too. (JackieNared, Ewa Laskowska,Carly Thibault-Dudonis)
I agree with your general thoughts but Kayla was not a head coachMost HCs were assistants at one point but I would prefer that we aren't the first step in an assistant's rise to head coach. True. I'll correct myself by saying the majority of the hires were Head Coaches at their prior school. And with Kayla, the exception, she was "coming home".I agree with your general thoughts but Kayla was not a head coach
If it was me making this choice I would ask Sue Bird if she would have any interest. I believe she is now out of WNBA. No coaching experience but lots of basketball experience. A bit of a flyer but might have big upside. 41 years old is about perfect too.True. I'll correct myself by saying the majority of the hires were Head Coaches at their prior school. Didn't seem to bother Mississippi State, they hired Louisville asst and it is a high profile job than SU.Most HCs were assistants at one point but I would prefer that we aren't the first step in an assistant's rise to head coach. I see she did sign a one year deal, but basically at the end of her playing career.Still playing

[That is their 2nd assistant coach hire in 3 years, that isn't a good thing.
Vic was the person who made them good and left for Texas. We went to as many championship games as Mississippi St, and the ACC has been a better overall league, except for South Carolina.
I was thinking about the women's teams. Neither the new Soccer Head coach or Softball Head coach have any SU player connection and both were prior Head Coaches.Novak wasn't hired to be Miss State's Head Coach but fell into it when McCray-Penson quit just before the season started. That was a really messed up situation and he and McCray-Penson both had previous HC experience so Purcell is the first assistant hired.
I wouldn't call the ACC better than SEC, more like equals.
As for the SU recent hiring's being previous HC, several have the SU player connect, so odds are it's Jack as the next coach.
I would love Reiss also, but didn't mention her along with Duffy since I think Virginia will try to get her back home. But she has done a nice job turning them around.I was thinking about the women's teams. It will be interesting to see who SU hires as the new WBB and Volleyball head coaches. If UVA doesn't hire her I would like to see SU approach Tammi Reiss with an offer.
I know a number of players on the SU team when Tammi was there thought the world of her. When she left SU, that was the beginning of the end of the Q era. I don’t know how the UB players feel about Felisha.I was thinking about the women's teams. She has definitely done a nice job at turning URI around and their fanbase seems engaged. I thought about her as SU is definitely going to be not just a turnaround but a rebuild.I would love Reiss also, but didn't mention her along with Duffy since I think Virginia will try to get her back home. UB players absolutely adore Felisha. She’s the ultimate leader of young womenI know a number of players on the SU team when Tammi was there thought the world of her. When she left SU, that was the beginning of the end of the Q era. I don’t know how the UB players feel about Felisha.
After the Q debacle, would Ike a personable coach that generates excitement with the players and the fanbase. At the least, I am sure Felisha would generate excitement with older former players and the local basketball community.
But there is a huge step up in basketball from recruiting at Buffalo. She had problems recruiting in the Big 10. The Mac is a one bid conference, the Big East might get 3 including Uconn. At this point as much as Felicia is a legend, this next hire needs to be a long term hire.UB players absolutely adore Felisha. She’s the ultimate leader of young women
As I said in a previous post, who says you can’t evolve as a coach/recruiter?But there is a huge step up in basketball from recruiting at Buffalo. She had problems recruiting in the Big 10. Notre Dame, when Muffet stepped down went out and got a former young assistant as their new coach.

Dyaisha Fair is unreal, have you watched her? How shes not at su now is baffling. Can play at any level and will start for SU next year when Felisha is hired.
The MAC is a one bid conference, sure. But Buffalo seems to get that bid quite a bit.
