Summer Sessions 2025

Just out of curiosity does anyone have insight into how different this S and C program differs from under Cabiles? Obviously the posts and content is far more robust than previous but just wondering is it truly different or just being advertised?
Just looking at the players, it is very different than under the previous regime.

But remember Cole Swider posting his off-season workouts? By himself, sauntering back-and-forth, not covered in sweat, lifting very light weights, etc...

The intensity and comradery is on a whole different level with this new coach. Harris does things differently.

Yep that’s my take too was just curious if that’s a real takeaway or simply just more focus and attention being put on this aspect on the socials. Clearly Harris is very different personality wise but intensity is delivered and demanded in different ways.

In the past guys rarely gained weight unless they individually went for it. In one of the videos Sadiq is saying he's trying to go from 195 to 205 before the season starts.

It's night and day with intensity and a real plan. No more coasting.

Yeah Cabiles was also screaming in their faces and making them aggressively lift/run to the dome for a workout.

We were using a Nokia 3310 and just upgraded to the latest iPhone.

Are you not able to see the abs?

So is JB basically the reason Cabiles stayed on? Not sure why the school allowed us to get so obviously behind the times here on what is really a fairly easy fix. I mean this isn't a new facility to fund.
I got the impression that JB lived in the past and thought playing was enough to be in shape. There was no thought of players changing their bodies.

JB was well known for caring about player’s conditioning, stamina and if a player was overweight. He had players leave the program for not losing weight after their on court time was cut because of their poor conditioning. I recall Anthony Harris saying he left SU after Boeheim was all over his case about his weight. Years later after playing in Hawaii, he said Boeheim was right - that only when he was older did he realize how his weight and stubborness over it, really had held him back. I used to watch him run guys ragged up the stairs in the dome during practice before the Melo Center. I don’t recall major strength emphasis but conditioning and being over weight was a definite issue aggressively addressed. The players including his sons lifted weights but I don’t know what a priority it was as a team.
